He didn't want to give them freedom. That's why Heavenly Father had no choice but to reject Satan and Satan's plan of salvation, leading to Satan's expulsion from heaven.

Instead, as I learned in the LSD Church, Heavenly Father approved of Jesus's plan, which was also Heavenly Father's plan.

Why? Because this beautiful "plan of salvation" gave all of Heavenly Father's children freedom...as in the freedom: (i) to choose to obey Heavenly Father and Jesus; or (ii) to choose eternal damnation and unspeakable eternal torment, constituting a death of all that makes living worthwhile, retaining only that level of conscious awareness necessary to experience an eternity of regret, self-loathing and intense guilt, as well as a complete eternal separation from all that is lovely, beautiful and nourishing to the soul.

I'm so glad that Heavenly Father rejected Satan's plan of coercion and heavy-handed control. Aren't you?

devised by Heavenly Father and Jesus:

(1) Total amnesia; and

(2) Intelligence and perceptual limitations inherent in the physical bodies of humans that make it impossible to reliably discern "god's will" in any particular instance, therefore making it impossible to be perfectly obedient, even for those who have every intention and desire to be obedient.

You needn't worry your pretty little head about this, Wally. The thinking has been done.

Heavenly father is a poor planner.

Maybe God's plan was to kick his freeloading spirit-children out of the Celestial Basement so that he and Mrs. God could enjoy their Celestial Years on a Celestial Cruise around the galaxy.

The impossible requirements for the PoS was his way of changing the locks and locking the doors once the kids left.

I used to hear the older siblings profess their great love for HF's plan that allowed their darling brother to come to Earth in a crippled body and mentally retarded. "I am so happy that HE chose that." That was her glowing testimony of Kevin.

-I never thought that was part of any plan, but a terrible tragedy.

Another family in my ward had to deal with 3 daughters with terrible birth defects. One was born without limbs and blind. Another had limited vision and the other one was a rocker. This one had to wear a crash helmet as she would bang her head against the wall and pew. Sometimes, she would slip out of the helmet and crack her head open. They would have to leave church and rush to the ER.

I just don't buy into all the neat ideas of the made up plan.

I think the amnesia was because Heavenly Father knew no one would want to come back if they could remember what he was really like and why Lucifer wanted out at any cost.

Drowning everyone in a flood? Killing all the first borns? Death plagues? What Heavenly Father was doing on earth was child's play compared to the pre-existence. Every spirit child wanted to go with big brother Lucifer but didn't dare.

P.S. This is one of those posts of yours Wally that I hope lot of lurkers read, especially the doubting Mormon types. Your magnifying glass is on par with the Fermi-Gamma Space Telescope.

And that is what the CK will be like: no possibility of not being righteous.

How Ironic is that! Ka-Ching!

The Celestial Kingdom really should be renamed the Stepford Kingdom.

It's an interesting twist: Here on our Earthly home, loving parents kick their children out of the home if some of them want to be bad; HF kicked 1/3 of His children out because some of them want to be good, minus the agency. No mercy, though; none of the Prodigal Son or daughter forgiveness for the 1/3. HF has a keen sense of humor doesn't He?

what my younger brother has had to endure in his life. We never thanked God for his problems. My mother always blamed herself. She never got over it. She worried about him to the day she died and was frantic over what was going to happen to him once she did die. We thanked God he didn't die when he got hit by a pickup on his bike at age 5. We thanked God he didn't die when he drank paint thinner. Thankfully, my older brother who was in scouts had poured milk down his throat while my dad got dressed to run to the hospital. He was 18 months old.

My mother suffered a lot and so did my dad as my dad couldn't protect him. He had a stroke when he was born and the doctor never told them. At 18 months after going to several specialists, they found out he had a stroke at birth. My mother changed drastically after this son was born. She was never the same. She was the oldest child of deaf parents. She never had an easy life.

Ghawd is a Bell-Shaped Curve that goes 'GONG-GONG-GONG' for all eternity. And like Old Man River, he don't say nothing; he just keeps rolling along.

Ghawd doesn't even know your name.

Because of that amnesia veil I don't recall if I actually agreed to anything. In fact, I don't know if I was even in that pre-existence.

I was probably, maybe, just two Pre-Existence merit badges short of being born White.

Nah, who am I kidding... If my personality now is close to what it was in the Pre-Existence, the only thing that saved me from being a Fence-Sitter was being too lazy to walk to the fence.

Sometimes I wonder if there even was a Pre-Existence... What if it's all made-up? What if the detailed Plan of Salvation espoused by the mormons (with now and again changes) is just another MLM?

I thank Heavenly Father that he chose someone as close to perfect as possible, even the Prophet Joseph Smith, to give us all this information, because of the millions of human He could have chosen to restore His Church™, Joseph Smith was the best choice.

Yes, if HF had chosen anybody else, we'd have proof positive that he really didn't want any of his kids coming home to the CK.

;)

Satan won the War in Heaven (pat pending). BYU is his plan in action. The irony goes right over most Mormons heads. :)

..and to assure our salvation, jesus and god (apparently) approved a plan of gaslighting and withholding critical information that we would need to make our own decisions. That JS translated the plates by looking in to his hat was not useful information, so they made-up other stories that sounded better and thus, helped us to make the right decision despite our own common sense... for our own good of course (not).
