I personally have never heard of any Mormon working in the profession of archaeology or anthropology,or Egyptology outside of Mormon institution.

As far as I know, there is no Mormon who is a professor in these areas at a college like Yale or Harvard,or any British or European University from Germany etc.

Is there any Mormons who have a serious profession in these careers outside of BYU ?

Do you mean archaologists who happen to be mormons or do you mean archaeologists that specialise in mormon archaeology?

"...do you mean archaeologists that specialise in mormon archaeology?"

I think the word you're looking for is "unemployed."

I mean anybody who will claim that the Book of Mormon is the word of God.

Yes. They are digging up the moon. Looking for Quakers, over 6 feet tall. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

I've met a few. I'm not sure how they really believed though as it never came up.

A few came around to me with bags of supposedly Alma-vintage Shums and a few Onti. They were obvious fakes.

No gold, nothing that would really qualify as BoM evidence.

I am beginning to think this detailed record of Nephite coinage in Alma might be total bunk like the rest of the book.

My EX-Mormon archeologist cousin works outside of BYU.

He left the cult when he was a university under grad, studying archeology, long before he got his PhD, so, technically he never was a "Mormon archeologist"

He never went to or worked for BYU, never worked for Mormons.

I've often wondered this, too. Whenever I have read anything about any Mormon archeologist, he (they're always males) was affiliated with BYU. Maybe this is because I usually read Mormon publications, which mentioned ONLY MORMON archeologists' comments and opinions. The Deseret News, SL Tribune, Ensign. There used to be lots of ads for excursions led by Mormon Archeologists, which were all BYU or church sponsored. I wonder if those are still popular, or TSCC has given up on those....
