A Swedish scientist has proposed that "global warming" can be addressed by cannibalism.

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/world/scientist-suggests-eating-human-meat-to-tackle-climate-change-a4230561.html

I thought this was a spoof, but other sites confirm that this is a serious proposal. It seems Richard Dawkins likes the idea:

Comments are interesting.

This brings to mind Jonathan Swift's 1729 satirical essay, "A Modest Proposal For preventing the Children of Poor People From being a Burthen to Their Parents or Country, and For making them Beneficial to the Publick," in which he proposed the raising of Irish children as a food source. But that was satire. These people are serious!

It's lunchtime here in the Eastern time zone. Maybe I shouldn't have posted this?

That reminds me of Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land. That was the first time I realized there are different views about how to respect the dead and utilize resources.

Then we would need to deal with the disease and chemicals humans die from and harbor. Dealing with things like Kuru and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease would follow.

The bottom line is the world is a giant petri dish with limited resources. It can only house so many people. Overpopulation is the root cause behind loss of habitats, waste overtaking oceans and land, conflicts over resources, and ultimately climate.

Honest discussion about overpopulation and realizing the impact is important.

Also in "Farnham's Freehold", in which Farnham and his dinner party end up the earth's far future, in which the ruling Blacks would fatten up a lovely Whitey and then fight over the giblets.

Would we be talking a "Soylent Green" solution, or should I start shopping online for an Alferd Packer cookbook?

I don't think the meat industry will get behind it.

However, I did hear about a butcher that backed into his meat grinder and got a little behind in his work.

Speaking of that, I'm going to be grinding beef and making summer sausage tonight and will be smoking it on Sunday. Seriously...I bought USDA choice chuck roast 2 for 1 at the grocery yesterday..I always face front when I grind though!

"However, I did hear about a butcher that backed into his meat grinder and got a little behind in his work."

Reminds about the guy that got fired for sticking his PH member in the pickle slicer.

If he did that, getting fired would be the least of his problems.

Guess you haven't heard the pickle slicer joke.....

When the guy came home from work early and told his wife that he got fired and the reason, she asked about the pickle slicer. He said she was fired too.
