before?

As I think about it, rarely was Florence Monson ever in the public eye.

Marjorie Hinckley traveled with GBH, and spoke on occasion, but never to this extent.

Ennis Hunter I never saw.

That Benson chick was dead long ago.

Camilla Kimball was photographed with her beard once and again, but not like this lady.

My guess is because she's so much younger and has a desire to be in the public eye.

Any thoughts?

Wendy obviously enjoys the spotlight and the attention. However, she's also the right person at the right time for church public relations. "See how empowered 'the sister's' are in our wonderful church."

Well at least the sister who snagged the top dog.

Marjorie Hinckley wad very visible (until she died). She and Mr. Hinckley had books come out around the same time, if I recall correctly. Her book outsold her husband's, I think.

I remember quite a few comments from members that she was upstaging him.

Emma Smith of course.

Eliza R Snow, wife of both Joseph and Brigham.

Patty Session, wife of Joseph

Definitely Eliza R Snow, she was the high priestess of the temple of doom. She also ran around salt lake visiting all the pretty young things to convince them of the wonders of eternal marriage. Many a young lass hooked up with the old goat just to get the Snow off their backs.

but was famous mostly for belting out hymns in public.

(Her singing starts at about 1:10)

She was the third wife of Joseph Fielding Smith (and probably the only wife that could beat him at arm wrestling). She was also Bruce R. McConkie's mother-in-law.

I don't think she got involved much in the kind of co-presidency that Rusty and Wendy have. But she was quite famous.

Camilla Eyring Kimball is Henry Eyring's aunt.

The guy in the current First Presidency grew up calling Spencer W. Kimball "Uncle Spencer".

The nepotism in the LDS hierarchy is off the charts.

Just above, I referred to the "prophet" Joseph Fielding Smith, who was the son of the "prophet" Joseph F. Smith, who was the son of Hyrum Smith. And Joseph Fielding Smith was also the father-in-law of Bruce R. McConkie.

Don't forget Brigham Young Jr. He missed being the prophet by a few years but died as president of the 12.

Also George Albert Smith, the iften overlooked Smith in thr gaggle.

Then there's all of the ones whose surnames don't make it obvious, but if you dig just a little, you find that they're married into it, or their father married into it. And that's just the nepotism. Then there are circles, cliques and special neighborhoods.

The innocent and naive belief of so many ordinary members that these guys are spiritually special and called by god would be touching if it wasn't so absurdly ridiculous.

My boyfriend even said, "So when he dies, is he supposed to be meeting up with his first wife?"

I think Wendy's going to want to be THE QUEEN, with no rivals.

Friend-zoned and demoted to "lady in waiting" is probably the best that the first wife can hope for.
