This Russian couple adopted a frail puma from a petting zoo. They became experts on his care. He has even taken obedience classes with dogs.

This is a wonderful video!

Pumas (also called: mountain lions, cougars) are native to the mountains of southern California....they encounter humans on a sort of regular basis....and many of them are known individually, to the public at large, by their individual "names" [P-62, for example].

We've recently had some (exciting for us here) news that a known female mountain lion has crossed the Ventura Freeway in both directions, near the Liberty Canyon off- and onramps--which is where the dramatic, over the freeway, wild animal crossing is slated to be constructed in the future.

The new crossing will be constructed in such a way that the animals will never know they are actually way up in the air, and walking over the freeway, as they go from one part of their territory to another. Google: Liberty Canyon Wildlife Crossing to see what I am talking about.

Since the wildfires, male mountain lions are known to have crossed the freeway at this same place and in both directions, so the southern California mountain lion future is looking much better now than what we were fearing when we were dealing with the wildfires. (If I am remembering correctly, we lost at least two adult male mountain lions in the fires.)

Until I saw this video, I didn't realize that mountain lions are "just" bigger than usual housecats (Google says they are the largest of the small cats), but now, because of this video, I know.

Thank you, Topper!

Maybe it was ignorance.

Maybe it was cussedness.

I hope he learns something important from the consequences, something which maybe might affect his behavior in a positive way in the future.

I hadn't read this before [|]. Thank you.

RIP P-38.

The evidence points to dogs not being racist when the cat outweighs them.
