Not changes. The doctrines and principles are eternal and unchanging and constant and firm like an iron rod.
But tweaking is okay. Some fiddling, maybe. Some refining here and there is always good.
And if we discover that a "new and everlasting covenant" was really just a policy or practice, then it's not really a change to forget about it. It's just forgetting. Not changing.
And if half of the temple ceremony is deleted, we know nothing doctrinal has changed. Only policies get changed. And that's how we can distinguish between policies and eternal principles. The stuff that gets thrown in the trashcan is just policies because eternal principles don't get tossed in the trashcan.
There was once upon a time a policy about slamming the temple door shut in the faces of people of African descent. But you know how those policies can be. They just pop up and stick around for decades, if not centuries, even if nobody knows why. It's not like it's the prophets job to keep bad policies from being mistaken for eternal principles. His job is to feel important and close his eyes in well rehearsed humility whenever the little people sing "We Thank Thee O Freakin' Gawd for A Prophet!"
Exactly. If they want to say that God called to say no beards? odd but fine. But of he said you get a planet and now you dont, or you get more than one wife and now no one knows, then its is clearly a symptom of men making it u as they go along.
As I told a member recently: If prophets are infallible except when they make mistakes when they are mere men, they we are all prophets and there is no need for a giant corporation to claim my income, blind obedience and infallibility, with a huge asterisk that says "*oops, its a mystery and we are just men"

Native Americans were cursed with dark skins up until 2005ish, after that they weren't, it was just their skin color.
Blacks were cursed and did not go to heaven since they did not get married in the temple, but after the 1970's they went to heaven.
Polygamy was an eternal requirement to go to heaven, was moved to mexico, was never to go away, moved to mexico, it got downgraded to a practice, was never taught and its a sin worthy of hell.
Gender is assigned in the pre-existance, always has been, but now od looked it up and he doesn't know much about it except he loved them gays.
