Could that be because most people are self-aware, have attained a consciousness, as opposed to having a soul?

No identity though with just a concsiousness and self aware. Even an A.I. could be self-aware.

What is the difference between a soul and consciousness? Do you have any evidence to indicate the existence of the former that does not also evidence the latter?

As I have mentioned before about my father-in-law (an atheist) came to me in a dream to tell me how happy he is, and where he is--overlooking rolling green hills.

Also, my husband's cousin who came to me--standing over where he was sitting at the time (still alive), to tell me that she wanted him to know she was happy--but she couldn't reach him, so she came to me.

It's lovely that no evidence is needed to support whatever point of view a human decides to believe.

Everyone allowed to hold the tiller of his/her life can set sail for whatever destination he or she chooses. It's especially nice when the destination lies on the other side of life.

I already know atheists believe they are nothing which might actually be true to them. Maybe i am talking to nobody when i talk to an atheist.

It is possible that there is no one inside atheist bodies or minds.

Why would there need to be? The body and the mind suffice.

I sincerely believe that I am 'soulless', as it is defined by religionists.

I do claim a modicum of self-awareness and some accumulation of facts, and a bit of ability to manipulate my environment, but it doesn't go much beyond that.

Except for 'attitude', which I think is a bonus ingredient and can have useful benefits...I'm filled with attitude. My chones overfloweth with 'attitude'.

I see but no identity or person behind the attitude? Does 'attitude' instead of a 'soul' look back at you in the mirror? Maybe. I believe there is something like a soul but not in religious terms as well. Theres something is all i'm saying. Everyone has their on identity within their body. Is that a soul i don't know.

I just barely discovered that i am an empath and that is ok. I understand why i see things differently than most people now and was not quite as crazy as i was made out to be.

I would like to connect with more empaths if they are reading this because i think they could help and understand me and teach me things. I found a few in this town but i would like to connect with more if possible. Empaths give me hope in this world.

Inanimate matter doesn’t have free will. You can imprint your positive or negative energy on the rock by your intention. That’s kind of how holy places work. Medicine wheels are made from rocks. There are some really special rocks in Sedona, AZ. You would feel them just by driving past them.

Nicely constructed paragraphs just to appease the atheists is not authentic. People don't construct paragraphs and then read them to someone in real life and call that a real conversation.

My computer is insulted at being called soulless. It does claim to be atheist, though it does seem rather worshipful about Steve Jobs.

If someone is Atheist it’s because God wants them to be Atheist.

Right we need athiests I the world to help us REALLY think. critically, they challenge us to think and explain our positions, which often, leads to people waking up some, or thinking outside box

What do you mean by "individual," "identity," "free," and "thoughts"?

A few questions to help you frame your responses: Does a drone bee have a soul? Does a drone bee have an "individual identity" or "free thoughts"? How about a sparrow? If animals have individual identity and free thoughts how on earth would you know it?

How about a person in a permanent vegetative state with no conscious brain activity? Does she have a soul? How do you know?

I'm confused.

I would say robots don't have a free soul because they aren't free. When a robot makes a choice they follow an algorithm, an if else statement. We can see the code created by a creator-god (a programmer) and this is the physical evidence that robots are machines. It's not rational to even question whether robots have souls or free identities.

But humans on the other hand we have no idea how grey matter in the brain actually works, We are just in the beginning stages of learning about DNA, and it hasn't shown what conciseness really is.

There's something familiar here. Can't quite put my finger on it, but it might be because it's in the pure Adamic language.

I had the same thought.

Maybe not everybody can grow a soul. If a person thinks that he doesn't have one, he may be right. I won't argue with him.

Consequently, having an afterlife may depend on the expectation of having one. Regardless, nothing gets lost in the Universe. It's all still here.

I don't have any particular beliefs that impinge on this issue, but I love the ways in which philosophers (even the 'pretend' kind) can play with words:

We aren't soilless. We are very dirty.

we are Energy actually, made of Light, information, vibration, frequency, i.e. Energy!, our body is just our spacesuit that helps us walk and mover around/ interact with earth. Someday you wont need your spacesuit for planet earth anymore, or it's built in little computer(your brain). Qauntum science is proving consciousness does not!! originate in our brain, (but not fully sure where comes from), anyway our brain is more like a receiver/ processor.(for a time) in Summary, my point being, We really are Energy (not the body mind). so if people call the Energy we really are spirit or soul? fine by me. will we need teeth one day to grind and gnash in a hell? of course not ,that is insane. or eyes to weep? Where we are going, we don't need eyes. (joking on the last bit) my point is when you dream at nite? you see all kinds of things, your eyes are shut, sometimes glued shut eye with crusties. Welcome to "soul" vision.

We evolved.

There is no God.

We have no soul.

When we die we're gone.

We are alone in the universe.

There is no meaning of life.

The Earth won't miss up when we're gone.
