Watching here. Long time National League fan (go Dodgers). Not a huge National's fan but would like to see them win it for all the diehard Expos faithful. Back when I was a kid, all the games were in the afternoon and we'd rush home from SS to watch baseball. No scripture reading..F that.

I'm rooting for the Nationals. I haven't watched baseball in a long, long time. I'm rather amazed at how well the sound quality has improved when the ball hits the bat. I hear the loud "crack" and assume that it's a home run, but it's not.
Talking of world series there is a real one going on right now in Japan, the Rugby World Cup. England just defeated the All Blacks of New Zealand in one semi final while Wales will play South Africa tomorrow in the other. Would love to see England versus Wales but go, go England.

It's a darn sight more entertaining too. But baseball vs cricket? In a cricket match, the grass moves quicker than the players do.
I think cricket is more a state of mind than just a game. That said, it does have nuances that are not obvious to the uninformed eye, much like baseball, I believe. Cricket does have a World Cup (world series) won by England this last summer, as does football (soccer) and Rugby and perhaps some other sports but the World Series for what is essentially a US event is a serious misnomer.
Golf is the one where a bunch of millionaires take turns whacking their own balls with their own sticks...and then all pile into a motorized cart to go see where all their respective balls ended up after all the whacking.

I'm waiting for ElderOldDog to weigh in on this one. He just might get HieToKolob back on the board for a well-driven retort.
Fun fact: (Heads up Kentish, especially): The baseball championship is not called the "World Series" because it is global, but because it was first organized by the New York World newspaper.
Interesting that the "woke" Nationals lost their three home games.
As long as grown men are serious about arguing when it is right to hit another man with a 98-mile-an-hour fastball, I will continue to believe in us as people.
#1 Two teams rose from the Wild Card pool to face off in the Fall Classic, and #2 Both teams lost all their home games
Being an American Leaguer, and feeling a smidgion of guilt for what the Red Sox have done over and over to the Astros in post-season play, I'm hoping that Houston has their moment of ultimate glory, which would nix #2, above.
