Sorry if this has been asked...I searched and couldn't find it.

Is there any way to find out your member number without calling the ward clerk? I haven't been in a mormon church in 20 years...

Why would you want to go back?

Fascist-like / 1984 monitoring of individuals, very creepy, not a part of Christ-Like living.

Does having a member number help the individual member?
I don't see how/why it would, it's about control.

Cultural Marxism masquerading as a religion.

I want to get a copy of my member ID number and I’ve been assured by SLC that the only way to do so is to call the ward clerk, and apparently go in to see him, so he can be assured he’s not giving my sacred number to an imposter.

Maybe this weekend...?

My member rec# is printed on my individual ordinance summary. Ward clerks can print those out but I don't blame you for wanting to avoid that.

Possibly you can email Member Records in SLC and see if HQ can send you one directly?

If you're looking for it to resign, you don't need it to do so.

Have you ever been to the temple? Your member number might be on your temple recommend or other temple-related paperwork. Mine was.

One way to do it is to sign up for an LDS online account. It will ask for your name and birthdate. You can retrieve it from there.

Maybe not the best route, but the only one I know of, other than old TRs.

I tried going this route. I reached the point in the sign up procedure where it asked for my “I am a child of ghawd” number...

so, back to square one.

I resigned in the 1990's. So I guess that getting my member/non-member number would be like getting the numbers from a thirty-year-old losing lottery ticket. What value could that number possibly have now? All it does is to help the church identify you easier. If you don't want to be found, it's useless. When I speak-ill of the so-called 'lord's annointed' and their money-grubbing cult, no one ever asks for my membership number.

"Who are you?"

"I am the new Number Two"

"Who is Number One?"

"You are Number Six"

"I am not a number, I am a free man!"

I've heard that ancestry.com is cheap if you have a member number.

FamilySearch is free for me with my member number. This is how I saw my grandmother was re-sealed to her polygamist husband posthumously.
