Mother requested that Chocolate Twizzlers (licorice) to be at her bedside at all times, until she passes.

Done.

BTW, what will your final foodie request be, do you have any idea, at this time?

Mine: 1/2 lb Guacamole Bacon Burger from Carl's Jr.

https://www.carlsjr.com/menu/nutritional_calculator/the-12lb-guacamole-bacon-thickburgerreg

Heaven had better provide Twizzlers and Bacon Burgers, or there may just be a revolution...of both Saints and sinners.

...Carbs, carbs, and more carbs. All of the pastas, potatoes, rice, breads, and the sauces that go with them, followed by sugary desserts, ...all of the good stuff that I don't eat anymore. Fortunately, I don't crave them anymore like I used to. But as a last meal.. yeah, I would indulge one last time.

My aunt (who was dying from pancreatic cancer) wanted Chinese food, from a specific Chinese restaurant in her town.

We set the table (she hadn't eaten outside of in her bed, in her bedroom, for at least a couple of months), we got everything she asked for and brought it home, and then we (with difficulty) got her out to the dining room table....where she discovered that she couldn't eat even a single mouthful of any of the Chinese food she had wanted so much.

So WE ate the Chinese food, to cover for the fact that she literally couldn't eat any more, and we tried to keep her included in a conversation (even though she was physically exhausted), and after we had finished OUR meals, we rolled her back to her bed.

She never ate anything ever again, but at least she had the pretense of a family centered "last meal"--and that meal did contain all of the dishes she most wanted to eat, even though, as it turned out, she couldn't actually eat anything.

What a story...it's so uncanny for me to think about what it would be like to lose control of my body (e.g. cancer or whatever). I am so used to it doing exactly what I want it to do, but some day I know that I will be in a similar situation where things will shut down and there's not a damn thing my mind/brain can do to stop it. At least she could see and smell it - I am sure it was comforting. You guys are for her through proxy.

I was going to say, whatever my family is cooking because a) they make wonderful food, and b) my happiest times are spent with them, especially at meals.

But apart from that, I love prime rib, Yorkshire pudding, and pretty much anything with lobster -- maybe grilled lobster with butter, or a lobster casserole with butter and breadcrumbs. A lobster roll works, too.

My father's family's roots are in Maine, and you just never lose that love of fresh lobster. :)

I'm trying to decide whether to go with,

-whole wheat pasta with assorted mushrooms. Anything with assorted mushrooms and no onions, really.

-drawn butter. And maybe some crab legs or lobster to go with it.

-ma-po tofu. No offense, Dave.

-a beef and lamb gyro without onions.

-Nutella on toasted homemade bread.

As for drinks,

-coffee brewed in a vacuum pot. Very delicious.

-Earl Gray tea. From real leaves, not bags.

-Iron Horse Brewery Irish Death beer. I have all but posted crappy poetry about how delicious this stuff is.

-Mead.

-Single malt Islay scotch.

-Pusser's rum.

Maybe I should just say I would have a last buffet and open bar.

Something that would include a nice, tender, juicy rib-eye and a carmel milkshake.

Thanks a lot slskipper. Now I have a vision of eating a loaf of warm Boudin's sourdough bread with a stick of butter stuck in my dome. *grumble, grumble, grumble*

They have these "nut balls"--don't know how else to describe them, and they are heavenly.

I actually really like Winger's hamburgers and fries right now. One of my favorite places to go eat and I don't have a clue why.

And a Diet Coke.

Crab or Scallops.

I should eat something I love but haven't been able to because of allergies for several decades.

or I could eat some now and possibly it would be my last meal.

There's a Thai restaurant in either American Fork or Pleasant Grove (on the main drag that goes through there) that my friends take me to eat at every time I visit Utah. Not sure of the name of it, but they have THE best currys. When I crave food, it's often that. But knowing my luck, my last meal would have to be Cream of Wheat or something that the decrepit body could handle--which probably isn't good Thai food.

When we are really really hungry even the most paltry fare is a feast.
