I remember they got banned the last period of time i was on here so i thought i'd ask. My eyes get really sensitive and is very painful when looking at screen technology. Was wondering if anyone else had this same issue and has ordered glasses specific for this eye sensitivity issue. And was wondering if these glasses worked and relieved the sensitivity and pain when looking at screens. I ordered a pair yesterday but am not sure if it will be a waste of money and not work and relieve the eye pain.

Off-topic discussion should be kept to a minimum. If you have a personal issue and are requesting support from other posters, then that's usually OK. However, the board is not Facebook and should not be used to share whatever news item enthuses/enrages you that day.

Please try to keep things on topic. However, painting a veneer of Mormonism onto something unrelated in order to try to justify the post will only serve to irritate the mods.

Off Topic subjects are not banned, but should be labeled: either O/T, or Off Topic.

There is a nutritional supplement product, available at GNC stores (and possibly elsewhere), by VITEYES, called Blue Light Defender--which worked unexpectedly quickly for me, and has had a highly positive effect. (Ingredients are proven eye support supplements: Bilberry fruit extract, Lutein, Zeaxanthin, Astaxanthin. [viteyes.com])

[Bilberry, the "oldest" known specific eye supplement, has an interesting history. During WWII, British (in particular) pilots were having serious eyesight problems (largely, we now know, because the British traditional diet, especially in the then existing wartime circumstances, does not support good eye function).

Once the usefulness of bilberry fruit to eye function became established, the British government began a public relations campaign to "save the bilberries/bilberry products (like preserves) for the pilots," because during that period of time, their mutual national survival depended on large part on the good eyesight of British pilots.

In the decades after WWII, we have learned that natural ingredients lutein, zeaxanthin, and astaxanthin are also important to eye health, and seem to be particularly effective in dealing with eye problems related to seeing screens. ]

I don't know anything about these glasses, but my eye problems with screens began to go away within a short time after I began the above eye supplement (which contains those four specific ingredients).

The subject of bilberry and pilot eyesight is interesting, especially because there's no medical evidence that bilberry affects eyesight at all: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilberry#Myths_and_research

The best explanation for the myth about bilberry and British pilots that I've heard is that it was deliberate disinformation by the British government during WW2. This was to help hide the fact that the Allies had broken the German codes and were therefore far more effective at finding and defeating the enemy than they should have been. How could this be possible? "Our pilots have super-vision because they use bilberry!"

The real problem of believable disinformation is that it takes on a life of its own. A rumor that once helped the Allies -- and no doubt had Churchill and his buds snickering down in the cabinet war rooms -- is now firmly entrenched in the dietary supplement culture.

My father, who spent most of the war moving from airfield to airfield with his mother following his father who was in the RAF. He always said it was supposed to be carrots, eaten by our brave boys to improve their night sight, but that was propaganda, to a large extent. Nothing wrong with bilberries or carrots, though. ;-)

Been trying lutein and zeanthanin for the last month but i think i need more than this so i will look into that product if it worked for you. This eye sensitivity problem has become very annoying. I'll head to GNC today and see if they have it on the shelves. I need to something about this.

I am male. I am working on my anger issues. When you were molested and told nothing can be done, you would be a little bit angry too.

I have calmed down over the years.

I was molested and forced to visit my perp's friend who was in the Utah State Mental Hospital for molesting boys. I realized telling my parents wouldn't be a good idea.

I do understand going to police later in life and being told nothing could be done over my childhood abuse. No charges could be made. I couldn't get revenge or justice of any kind. Nothing. Very disheartening and maddening. If nothing else i at least proved i was brave enough to even go to the police about it later in life. Exposing three abusers at once in front of a detective and not a psychologist that already knew child abuse had taken place. So it was out in the open and talked about with the legal system at least for my own voice to be heard that great injustice had taken place.

My retina specialist has me using a lubricating eye drop (over the counter) which has been helping. I picked Systane off a long list.

I used to get really bad headaches from staring at my screen so much, so I got some blue coated glasses. I never get headaches from screens anymore! I made my dad (an engineer) get some too--they changed my life!

I can see it changing my life if it works. Even indoor lights hurt my eyes. But screens are definitely a big issue.

I have to look at a screen for about half the time i am working so it would be very beneficial.

Yes, Tevai , I thank you too ,for the suggestion of that eye supplement and how it worked for you. I see that a lot of us on here ,and in a previous post about cataracts ,are concerned about eye health. The name ,kind of reminds me about that “ medicine” that Lucy did the commercial for on “ I love Lucy “.
I remember my dad telling me how the British mainly bombed at night, and the Americans, during the day. Back then , they tried a lot of vitamins and foods on pilots in the military.
