Greetings fellow exmos!

It's time to raise funds again to support the running of exmormon.org and the fabulous Recovery from Mormonism bulletin board.

But wait, you say. Didn't he have a fundraiser only a few months ago? Yes, but we didn't raise enough money to run the board for a whole year. The money we raised then is running out and we need new funds to keep things going.

We need to raise $2000 to support the site for the upcoming year. If I could afford to do it out of my own pocket, I would, but unfortunately that's not possible. We need the combined financial strength of our community to keep things going.

As usual, there's no pressure to donate. If you don't have money to contribute, don't feel guilty about it. We don't scam mites from widows here. But if you can afford to make a contribution, please do so. Think about how you enjoy the community of your fellow exmos, and how much the site has helped you and others. Dig deep if you can. They more we get, the less often we have to ask.

The site has no advertising and no one associated with it will receive a penny of your donations. Every cent of donated money goes to the ISP for costs in running the site. I get nothing. In fact, I donate. The other admins and mods get nothing. (And they also donate.)

The best way to contribute is to use the Donate link at the bottom of the site's front page: https://www.exmormon.org/
You can use a credit card or your Paypal account, if you have one. If you'd prefer to pay by check or money order, you can send that directly to our ISP:

Wingnet
P.O. Box 2605, Cleveland, TN, 37320
Make sure to write "For exmormon.org" in the memo field so that they know to credit it to us.

We will post an anonymized list of donations as they come in. We will also remove this request as soon as we have the money needed for the coming year.

Thank you for your continued support and generosity!

CZ (ever grateful admin)

Thanks for yours and others. Sending a little money is nothing to the time it takes to run this place.

We have $941 in our account now. Thanks. Just a bit more and we are set for the year. Even as admins, we donate to the kitty. No one is paid here.

I talked to Concrete Zipper 2 days ago and discussed his plans for the site. His life has been busy, to say the least. He is looking at a new bb software and site upgrades. Our current cost with a dedicated server, regular full back ups etc. is $200/mo. That is a high. We hope to reduce our site costs as well.

And what it possibly costs the beast that justifies a site like this is hopefully much more. $200/month in exmo dollars might hit at hundreds to thousands each month in those doubting their doubts but just read one more post/story and the men behind the curtain are revealed for who they really are - charlatan prophets propagating their useful to harm others "truths."

We can random donations during the year so $941 gets us more than halfway.

We do need the $2000. Eric knows the community and is optimistic about future contributions.

But please don't stop donating. We really do need the full amount.

Thanks,

CZ

A site that cost $200 per month costs the lds church thousands of dollar monthly due to so many people finding out the lds church is a lie on here. People find out it is a lie and stop paying tithing. Thank you! Thank you very much for those who run this site and for those who are patient with those of us who struggle leaving mormonism.

I couldn't agree more.

Imagine the cost to the church of losing a single good tithe payer. That alone could easily be substantially more than the $2,000 that RfM requires--and continues annually for decades. I bet, furthermore, that the board contributes to scores of departures every year.

As I clicked the "pay now" button on PayPal, I realized that I would be tucking a few less dollar bills into Double Dee Dolly's garter tomorrow night as she dances around that stage strutting her stuff. But eh, it's a small price and when it's spread around, it seems smaller. The money, that is. Heck, Dolly might not even notice me sneaking off after only an hour and a half. She's a good sport.

For years I didn't. I see my ability to make a donation as a huge milestone in my recovery. Those years I thought of my participation here as something of a sin. Sorry I didn't since I could have. I'm glad RfM is still around.

I don't have a Paypal account. I tried clicking on the credit card option, but every time I tried to type in a money amount, it bounced itself back to Paypal.

Is it maybe because I have never "officially" logged in?? (Every time I have tried to log in officially, it says that there is already a catnip in residence, and I would have to take up a new persona.)

IT is a community for ALL exmos. IF you don't find community in it...

Jordan,

We're a pretty welcoming and inclusive community, but we do have a few rules to help keep things civil and less chaotic. If you'd follow the "no politics" rule and refrain from posting under different user names, you'd have a much better time here. Please give it some thought.

I think that when you know what’s best for people, and they won’t listen, the strain can sometimes be too much.

I’m lucky that way. I don’t even know what’s best for me, much less any of you sweethearts!

We are slightly above $1850 I will pay next month personally so we are at $2000 with that contribution. A few extra bucks, if you feel so inclined, does not hurt though :-) I guess I just dislike fund raising even though it is necessary... Nice to have this over with and back to our regularly scheduled programming.
