Why did the church pay Mark Hoffman large amounts of money for what they thought were historical records that painted Joseph Smith in a negative way? Hoffman knew he could con the church because the church knew Joseph Smith was a questionable character and they needed to hide anything negative about him from the public.

So actions speak louder than words. The church does deceive the public. If the church was honest they would not have been so motivated to buy Hoffman’s forgeries. Hoffman knew the church was dishonest and knew he could make money from the church because the church would buy anything that made the church look bad so they could hide it.

The church also denied Joseph Smith practiced polygamy and now they admit he did in their essays.

I noticed that comments at the Trib are non existent. Either they are blocked or they're behind a paywall.

Do TBMs read the Trib? Many more of these types of criticisms and there won't be many left in the faith. By the time you get to the bottom of the article you are left in no doubt that the Mormon leaders do not speak for God, and that the entire religion is based on tissue-thin folk stories.

Surely the Church cannot survive too much more of this sort of analysis, openly published in Utah's mainstream press?

Unless / Until ChurchCo discloses their finances down to each $100, Including perks accepted such as travel, lodging, etc, ...

- salaries, stipends-allowances, retirement benefits, health plans, etc.

- revenue, including business & 'contributions',

- expenses & investments of all subsidiaries,

- litigation awards

they have ABSOLUTELY NO CLAIM ON TRANSPARENCY, NONE WHATSOEVER.

If they claim transparency, they're LIARS.
