the blue Texas sky and mid-60˚ january weather inspired ziller to fire up the 1979 chevy corvette and cruise up the coastal highway ~
ziller navigated the curves of the two lane blacktop enjoying the beauty of the wind blown coastal prairie grass on one side and the sun-kissed gulf waves on the other ~
on the straight sections of the highway ziller would punch the gas and enjoy the sensation of being pushed back into the seat as the advanced timed HEI distributor worked its magic on the 350 cubic inch small block engine ~
ziller imagined how impressed a semi-attractive nephite / lamenite maiden might be if she were suddenly time-transported into the fine buckskin leather of ziller's passenger seat ~
the semi-attractive nephite / lamenite maiden would certainly think that ziller was some kind of Quetzalcoatl-like demigod ~
the beautiful thundering horse-less / tapir-less chariot ~
the cool danceable jams piped through the invisible airwaves into the cabin speakers ~
the inexhaustible supply of quality wine ~
anyway ~
ziller started to notice all the cross shaped telephone / power lines lining the highway ~
ziller became worried that the semi-attractive nephite / lamenite maiden might think that the cross shaped telephone / power poles were used to crucify lots of people and she would get scared and want to be transported back home ~
how would RfM explain this away to her to calm her down long enough to get her back to the beach shack assuming she spoke passable King James English ? ~
But answer your question.....you would tell her they are symbolic and are there to remind us of Jesus' visit to her people many years ago.....and that if she doesn't believe in Jesus, she'll be strung up on those cross like towers and crucified until she does.

I often wonder about future civilizations digging up all of our 2-liter plastic bottles, and making guesses at why so many of them are found piled together in one place, in each city. Perhaps it was a sacred place of worship, or a market exchange where whatever was in the bottles was used for money. And what were those ugly never-degrading plastic spires, with blocks of granite and slabs of marble underneath them? Excavation revealed ancient statues of 12 huge bulls beneath one of the piles. The inhabitants must have sacrificed bulls to their God Satan, and put their blood into the sacred cauldron that was found near the bulls--or maybe it was humans they sacrificed....
