I think they mentioned that Charles was JJ's great uncle? I just read that Kay Vallow Woodcock, Charles sister said that JJ was her grandson.
My first thought when I heard about the doomsday stuff was that they were saving these 5 people from the turmoil and chaos of the end of times. In last night's program, Lori had said that very thing to someone, about how frightening it would be for the children and she may as well put them in the car and drive off a cliff.
There's "Crazy" and then there's "Religious crazy".

I watched the Dateline ep last night. Lori Vallow Daybell is a classic narcissist/sociopath who wants what she wants when she wants it, and anyone who gets in her way is to be destroyed. I think she's leading Chad around by his dick, and is the mastermind behind everything that's happened. Her brother Alex was her hitman for a while but had to be offed because he knew too much. JJ and Tylee were in the way and also knew too much (at least Tylee did - her aunt said that Tylee was very honest and blunt - just the kind of person who would spill all kinds of tea if given a chance). The kids had to go. With sociopathic narcissists, other people are nothing but disposables if they get between them and their desires. Lori has maneuvered herself into position as Queen Daybell, co-leader of the cult. Chad had better watch his back - Lori may decide at some point that SHE should rule alone and HE is not needed, and there will be another mysterious death.
After Chad's terminal accident, and just before she collects the life insurance, all the evidence will point to Chad being the chief architect and actor behind all the deaths, which Lori will tearfully confirm.
If she wears a low cut enough bodice she can get away with it!
