Thanks for the link to the letter--so full of self-pity, so pleading, so manipulative, such horrible spelling!
They don't call him "Horn-dog" for nothing: "bosams" (jk) "great relief, of mind" "comfort" "afford me succour"
Was he ever manipulative!
"...it seems, as if I could not live long in this way." "It is the will of God that you should comfort me."
A psychologist would have a field-day with this letter.
Being an untrained eye, all I see are more spelling errors than the worst second-grade paper. I see a narcissistic idiot, and I can't imagine God ever choosing this jerk to be his prophet.
Really, ladies, if you received this letter from a married man (or any man), wouldn't you have torn it up? Even if he invited your parents to come with you, wouldn't you have considered this to be a diabolical trap for you? The creep was a criminal.
The laid-out details of intrigue demonstrate a narcissistic sex-addict, who loves the games and seductions. I do know a little about that, from my ex-husband.
Barf. If the cult manuals had included this letter for us to read in Sunday school, and had told us about JS's polygamy early on, I would have married my atheist True Love, and he would have put me through a decent university (as he did for the ungrateful girl he married) instead of my being sent off to BYU, and I wouldn't be alone this Valentine's Day.
Thank you, BTDT, This is very timely for V-Day, though too late for me.
