Not sure what to make of this one. Different, but not particularly impressive. Kind of low-key. No Moroni?

On February 26, 2020, an official exterior rendering of the Brasília Brazil Temple was released to the public, featuring a single-level, 25,000-square-foot temple with numerous arches complementary to Brasília's famous architectural style. In addition to the temple, a patron housing facility and new meetinghouse will be constructed.

As the Mormon stone rolls forth, their Mctemples begin to look more and more like graveyards to me too.

And why did they lose our Holy General Moroni astride the steeple.

Gold-leaf statues maybe cost too much?

Tacky and tasteless.

Another win for the mormons.

Just a guess, it looks cheap to build.

It follows the design of the Itamaraty Palace (foreign ministry building) in Brasilia. It is pretty boxy, but so is Itamaraty. Other buildings, particularly the cathedral in Brasilia, have giant sweeping curves.

they probably chose Itamaraty as the design template because Mormonism tends to be pretty rectilinear. I once heard someone describe the streets of SLC as "swimming in rectilinear rectitude". I laughed. Right angles do indeed rule downtown. Even buildings like the Conference Center are a blizzard of right angles. Ditto the COB.

Brasilia is pretty dramatically monochromatic with simple, bold angles and curves, so this temple fits the Oscar Niemeyer mold. I still think it is too boxy, and it lacks the airy openness common to most other iconic buildings in the capitol. Airy openness is not something Mormons do, especially with temples. "Impenetrability" is more the look they go for.

The building also looks vaguely Moorish.

It's a shame that the Mormon church does not have the money to hire talented architects (nor the will to let those architects do their jobs.)

It looks like a CGI image.
"The Brasília Brazil Temple is currently in the government approval stages. No groundbreaking date has been announced."

Perhaps the final version will look like Jesus church and they will put Jesus's symbol on it (the cross).

Couldn't agree more. They should be required to build next to sewage treatment plants. That way their crap can be immediately treated.
