When I say 'gospel' I mean 'truth'.
Whatever that means to you.

“Gaudy Night”

Because at the end the girl and the boy kiss, because they’re in love.

It took three earlier books for them to work it out.

The gospel truth means that I don't owe any mental or emotional space to a creature that does not exist.

ETA: Sorry - didn't answer the question. I like how Phillip Pullman addresses the concept of sin in His Dark Materials. The TV series is TEN TIMES BETTER than the stupid Golden Compass movie.

I reread the trilogy from time to time.

Truth is a moving target.

No set text will suffice.

Is it a moving target?
To me truth is that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality, across time. Whether we knew it or not.

Like E=mc^2 and m=E/c^2

It's always been true, we just didn't know it until Einstein came up with it and it's genius!

It's so simple, yet so powerful, literally.
haha

It's an equation for a model, not a book.

I know, which is why I said,
Stephen Hawking's last book, "Brief Answers to The Big Questions"

but if I had to boil it down to a formula, it'd be m=E/C^2 (which is how Einstein originally formulated the General Theory of Relativity)
Everything that matters is Energy, slowed down to almost zero, but not quite and vice versa, energy is matter sped up by the speed of light, squared. IOW, we live in a super symmetrical universe, spiraling out of the singularity.

To me the one book is
"Brief Answers to The Big Questions"
By Stephen Hawking

To me the ultimate truth we have forgotten is, "We are all one."
Every religion claims the same thing ultimately, oneness with the ultimate nature, our creator, the universe,
the Cosmos
The Singularity

There are many names for the same thing, that is the source of our lives and all life, and matter.

Interesting question. I'd say I don't look at any book for gospel truth. Or rather, I haven't found a book that speaks deeply to the soul. Certain books that have changed my world view are:
1) 'Coming Apart' by Charles Murray. It explains the class divide and how it will effect the future.
2) 'The slums of Aspen' is a very short book, It delves into an unexplored study of a permanent underclass, impoverishment, disenfranchisement, all for the enjoyment of the absent wealthy who occasionally visit Colorado. It opened my understanding of how the wealthy think, the creation of the future. Post modernism.

the Mormons (heritage - legacy for many/most of us) has buried the basic, Core essentials of Christ's gospel, those are:

Love for God & Neighbor.

If U love your neighbor, U don't hurt them, lie to them, or cheat them by any means.

mistakes are repudiated & reversed.

Mormons claim that the 'Plain & Precious Truths' of Christ's gospel aren't in the Bible, but I just wrote them from the Bible.

Mormons lie to get what they want which is unfortunately all too common. Mormons mix mormonism & Christianity together in an amalgam which makes the two nearly indistinguishable.

Someday humans will look back and wonder what is was like to have two eyes but only be able to read one book at a time.

They will wonder what its like to have enough peace to even read one book at a time. A screen will be connected to the front of their faces 24/7 i think.

Walden, by Henry David Thoreau.

It's SO MUCH more interesting, deep, simple and wonderful than any (or even all) thing I ever read, heard or saw in morbidism.

And it NEVER came to pass. It just is! Pass the beans please.
