Well this is a tough one. Similar stories have been aired on the radio (Glen Beck). The message is that government officials (ie Mayor De Blasio of New York) are persecuting Christians by saying he was going to permanently close churches. Christians are feeling that things are as bad as as they were back in Roman times, When Christianity was almost destroyed by Nero. At any rate the Christians and Jews are getting the heat from the Mayor while at the same time he's awfully accommodating and consolatory towards the the Muslims, letting them continue to hold prayer meeting in their mosques daily. There seems to be preferential treatment for muslims. While Christians get to suffer.

The Reason article to which you link appears to debunk the reporting from The Blaze. Here is its first line, after a long quote from The Blaze:

"I looked into this, and there seems to be no basis for suggesting that de Blasio is preferring Muslims over Christians and Jews."

Mosques have been closed in NYC since late March. Christians are not being singled out.

It's a reference to the religion that Charles Darwin originated, like Confucianism, Taoism, Hinduism, and Mormonism. I would have thought that a man of your erudition would know that already.

Everybody knows that Darwin was the coolest guy in our school and got the first Mustang in the valley when they came out and we all worshipped him. I think I was fourteen and that baby blue car was better than any PopeMobile, Monson's Armored Audi A8 Luxury ride, or Joel Osteen's Falcon 7X Jet.

We knew what was what and there was no monekeying around when it came to Darwin.

I understand the distinction but a tiny group of deniers among the countless thousands yearning to breath free in spite of risks and in the face of possible death.

Are they science-deniers or are they selfish people in many domains, and have no regard for the safety of others ?

I’d like to see their track records in areas like road rage and crowding in lines.

Some of the obliviousness I think is ignorance (in the literal sense of the word). Too, though, some demonstrate they don't care about anyone else. (Even their own children in the example of the playground protest).

I give people a bit of a pass when it comes to paying attention to scientific and medical experts and comprehending the minute details of this pandemic. But even absent that, surely the basic concept is glaringly obvious. Just like if someone has a raging cold or flu you know enough to avoid catching it yourself by taking a few simple measures such as distancing and observing basic hygiene.

It's not rocket science. Just your basic good old germ theory. Only on steroids.
