My TBM father suffered from Parkinson's disease, so I was reading up on it. The following from the Wikipedia entry made me chuckle:

>>...there is a reduced risk in tobacco smokers and those who drink coffee or tea.<<

But... but... if you follow the WoW you're supposed to have health in your navel and marrow in your bones, to be able to run and not be weary, walk and not faint, not spend your last decade or so shaking, shuffling and stumbling. And you're promised to find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, not to slip into dementia.

Ah, if only that BS had been true.

This reminds me os a story attributed to Mark Twain. He was at a party and a woman was going on and on about her ailment. Twain said something like, "I had the same sickness, but I gave up cigars and whiskey for a month and was cured."

The woman replied, "I'll have you know I NEVER partake of those evil things."

Twain replied, "Then you've left yourself defenseless."

but he drank coffee all my life and he chewed tobacco, but I guess that isn't smoking! He was mormon, not really active mormon. He told my brother the WOW of bullshit.
