Just a heads up on BIG LOVE---the final season. The air date is Jan. 16th 2011. There are 10 episodes.

I had some issues with Season 4...and though I feel the production brought "the little Taliban in Utah" front and center, there is always a beginning and an end, eh?

I recall posting about this new fictional drama in pre-production on this RfM board in 2003-04 when it was pretty much an unknown production. The LDS were not thrilled.

I plan to enjoy the final season!

While I really like the show, I am glad that they are going to wrap it up after this season. Comming out like they did at the end of season 4 really felt like the show was comming to its climax.

Of course season 4 felt so rushed and edited (that was a whole lot of stories to tell in only 9 episodes) that maybe I just want it to finish up before it becomes yet another poor TV show.

I didn't really like the last season. I found it over the top, unbelievable and silly. I think it is probably best it is ending if the quality continues to go downhill.

But I think it would have lasted longer if they had kept the stories in the Utah compounds and neighborhoods.

I think the public is curious about the day to day lives of polygamists more that the extreme thriller scenerios that rarely come up in real life.

I liked the show better when they did just that. The interactions between the characters interested me, not smuggling parrots or building casinos. I didn't hate last season, but I thought it was far inferior to the previous years. There does come a time when it is time for a show to go. This one might have had another year or two in it if they had chosen another route. If it keeps declining at the current rate, I'd rather see it go now than to turn into a stupid soap opera with no belivability.I thought last season was heading that way.

I agree it went a bit off the rails when some consultants, insiders, actors and writers basically, quit working on the project and others want to move on to other interests. Showbiz...what can I say? *wink* It was great while it lasted, and a blast the first 3 seasons, in my opinion.

I think the producers are aware of the problems with Season 4. Let us cross fingers for a great end to Big Love.

I agree the show got a little too over the top in season 4. (But I was hoping Barb would have an affair with the handsome casino manager). Maybe in season 5.

but have to wait every year until it comes out on DVD because DH objects to paying for television. Maybe it's just because I can relate to the Mormon stuff or maybe I just like to see them take potshots at Mormons. Anyway, it's one of my favorites. Too bad it's going but it's better to end on a high note, rather than so many shows that drag out into utter silliness.
