https://www.deseret.com/utah/2020/5/20/21265086/child-pornography-utah-latter-day-saints-church-mormon-bishop-federal-court-kaysville-hallows

A former Latter-day Saint bishop arrested last fall for allegedly possessing and distributing what state investigators called “child sexual abuse material” will now be prosecuted in federal court.

Timothy James Hallows, 62, of Kaysville, pleaded not guilty to possession of child pornography during an initial appearance in U.S. District Court last Friday. The charge filed May 8 alleges Hallows possessed material containing an illicit image of a child under the age of 12.

A change of plea hearing is scheduled for June 30. Defendants typically plead guilty in those hearings as part of an agreement with prosecutors.

Hallows was bishop of the Wellington Ward in the Kaysville Utah Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when he was arrested in October and later charged with eight counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in 2nd District Court in Davis County.

If found Guilty I hope he gets the maximum prison sentence possible. Let him be a Mormon in Utah State Prison - a former Bishop seen as a child molesting pervert. He'll die bowlegged after years of Prison abuse.

If I had been in Bishop Hallows ward, the whole nasty situation would be so upsetting that I'd seriously consider never going back to church even after coronavirus situation is resolved.

I'd predict empty pews in that building.

Mormons will disavow any connection with this pedophile, but you can bet his flock circled the wagons for him and defended him just like Warren Jeffs followers, even AFTER he was in prison on multiple convictions of child rape and admitted he wasn't and never was a Prophet.
Mainstream MORmONs are only slightly less delusional than their Fundamentalist inbred country bumkin cousins to the South.

So what lesson can we learn from this incident that will help us recover from the trauma we amy have suffered as Mormons?

Puzzled...or perhaps not. The headline to the article identifies the man as "ex-LDS" yet the article states he was a bishop when he was arrested. Clearly he would not remain as bishop once charged but I think it is an example of how the distancing begins.

It is poorly worded, pretty sure they mean ex-bishop, not ex-Mormon

Although innocent until proven guilty, and presumption of innocence, and all that jazz . . . .
it's likely that they didn't waste a lot of time before excommunicating . . .
but not really sure how they would handle it

In my opinion, I believe this kind of stuff happens because Mormons stifle anything sexual.I was always given crap by Mormons growing up just for always wearing tank tops. I'm 38 and still like wearing tank tops. Sexuality gets out of hand in horrible ways when it's stifled. I wonder why the Mormons are protecting Lori Vallow and not this guy. He's not getting away with molesting which is good, but they're dragging out the Lori Vallow case.

The church isn't involved in the Lori Vallow case.

You can count on mormons sucking up to Sister Lori Vallow Daybell on July 21 of this year when Jesus' space ships, the Niña, the Pinta and the Santa Mommy, descend from the heavens in outer space glory and majesty and He asks to see her.

That is true. In the same vein, you cannot prove that the spirits of those Heaven's Gate suicides did not enter the spaceship behind the comet in 1997. We missed our chance, you and I and Ms. Saucie.

Perhaps Chad and Lori represent a second opportunity proffered by a God of infinite mercy.

Chad and Lori Vallow are involved in a more corrupt version of mormonism. The richest of the Mormons are mostly always protected.

The rule is that if a person is a church official, he must be excommunicated as fast as possible so that the church can disavow him. But if the person is a normal member, early punishment just highlights their Mormonism and hence does more damage to the church's reputation.

Chad and Lori are losers. They have no money and no formal status in the church. No one is protecting them, no one wants any association with them at all.

Yup, that's true.

I keep reading that Lori and Chad are both rich. They are not. If either one of them was rich, Lori would be out on bail.

They both WANT to be rich. They want to be rich and famous. Well, most of us do. They are both famous now, or infamous as the case may be, but they are not rich.

There is a lot of interest in the LV case. It isn't hard to find in this day of FB and other social media, and the fact that so many members of LV's family like to talk.

I think I cured myself of my LV missing children obssession. I think I know how it will end.

It won't. The kids will never be found, so there will be no evidence that they are dead so there will be no murder charges.

They will just go on being missing forever. No evidence that they are still living, but no evidence that they are dead. And of course, no evidence that they have been resurrected.

It seems crystal clear that Lori's interest in end of the world stuff caused her to have a mental breakdown, and make this woman capable of anything.

Further investigation turns up some offbeat characters, but no one is getting closer to finding them.

I don't think they are going to be found.

Not finding a body / bodies doesn't eliminate the possibility of murder charges, just watch enough episodes of 'Dateline' to verify that.

I remember a case of a ship's pilot who was 'missing' here in WA state, his wife did the deed...

Thanks. This story connects with another church member who plead guilty to molesting his granddaughters. I believe these two not only knew each other, but probably hung out sharing their child-porn perversions. This guy was in my stake at one time :puke

Just sickening

Chad is or was a famous author. He could have a lump sum of cash stashed somewhere. I grew up with Mormons that lied about me and abused me and got away with it. I was also kicked off ksl which is Mormon owned for revealing truths. Mormons get away with a lot of corruption and you only get kicked out of their church if you're not one of their favorites. I mentioned this in my article on this website under midnightseahorse about how I knew a song and wanted to sing it but instead the Mormons chose their favorite who didn't know the song lip sing it. Sugarcoat it all you want but Mormons are NOT nice, if they appear nice it's fake. I live in Utah and have never met a sincere nice Mormon. I've tried to at least be friends with these Mormons and christians and it doesn't work because I'm not part of their group. I just refuse to believe in their violent God.
