A woman in England incubated supermarket eggs and in due course found herself Mummy to three sweet ducklings. Made me think of Beth. Put me off eating eggs though. :)

Can't post link from my phone but the article should be findable. Such cute little beings.

Yah - it's hard to find fertilized eggs in US supermarkets. The chickens are treated horrifically, and there's no rooster. The eggs are old by the time they make it to the market, and because the protective bloom has been washed off the egg, the shell is porous and doesn't protect the blastocyst, if there is one, from bacteria. Free range doesn't mean pastured, and ugh. Poor birds.

Duck eggs are a completely different matter. It's best to have one drake in a flock. The ducks lay better for some reason. I have four eggs incubating. Two I collected the day before, and two I took from the fridge just to see what would happen. All four are moving along nicely!

I'm going to look for the article you read right now!

(not proofreading today)

Thanks for the link, Beth. Yes, they make me smile. We need more light moments.

Most Brits do not like eating battery produced eggs or chicken.

I did that thing you do when you see something breathtaking - I took in a deep breath, mouth hanging open and whatever. What's it called? Sudden audible inhalation through mouth due to being happy seeing something that makes you happy?

Whatever.

I LOVE THIS TOO MUCH!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
