The last time I visited Utah (decades ago), we went into the history bldg. on the temple grounds.

An item there particularly caught my eye---and why not?...it was a mummified Indian on display. I presume it was there to "prove the church was true".

I'd be willing to bet my car and house that the mummy is no longer in the musiam today.

my mother mentioned to me that there were lots of old indian relics at Temple square back in the 50s. They were housed in the basement of the North visitors center. It was really creepy but I guess fit in with the times, when the Lone Ranger and his side kick were on the air waves.

I was taken to that museum when I was a little kid and it traumatized me to see those mummies.

I had nightmares for years.

The artifacts and examples of metal plates from around the world have been gone for years. The museum in the SE corner, where those displays used to be, most recently had a large cut-away model of the temple, and displays about its construction. The NW visitor center with the Christus statue had scriptural displays of Bible and BoM stories.

Not sure what's going to be there after the current construction. In any case, LDS Inc some decades ago gave up trying to make the case for the historicity of the BoM. Smart move.
