Hard to change conditioned behavior unless the person is looking for facts on their own. I have tried to convey truth and have always been met with defensiveness - with other TBMs. If Rusty would tell the truth he would be removed

Once a person has been conditioned to accept lies the truth becomes devasting and with reference to this post probably result in excommunication
I can tell you what the effect of truth and honesty on the part of a full time CES teacher (seminary and institute) is. You are hounded, shamed, laden with guilt, and watched closely by all kinds of people. If a member of one of your classes is offended by the truth, you are called in to visit with the Area Director of CES, usually along with the Stake President, and then called to repentance, and it is made known that you will not be "in good standing" if you continue to teach "controversial issues" as the honest truth is called. You are warned not to teach anything else, except what is contained in the correlated teaching manuals.
And eventually, you either get tired of the church authorities holding an anvil over your head and you quit, or you shut up, stop presenting the truth, and return to the dark side, so you can retire with a pension, investment savings program, and social security.
I quit after 27 years, and began another career, in spite of having a laughable resume filled with stupid CES full time career experiences.

I offered to present a talk on evidence about where Jesus the man was for the 17 years he was missing from Jerusalem. I was told that since that subject was not endorsed by the big wheels in SLC it could not be presented in a Sacrement meeting. It is all about mind conrol
The Brutality Of Truth Truth is brutal. It is non-compromising to circumstance. It is also perceptional. Those who seek to speak the truth at all times will discover that there circle of “so called” friends will be quite small. However the circle of people who respect them will be large. People are generally taught that the “little white lie” is acceptable if it saves embarrassment or hurt feelings. But is it worth surrendering personal integrity to tell one? So if I always tell the truth as I see it I will then be prepared for the behavioral consequences of my actions
