There used to be a poster here that used the name tanstaafl, correct. Is that person still around?

I know Tanstaafl. That person's name isn't Jordan.

But who the hell knows, We're all anon.

Nope. Just an attempt at humour.*

If we're talking about the same person, they haven't been here in like a decade.

It's short for, "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch." Today I learned something new.

Where I live, there is a website called Spacecityweather.com. I occasionally see someone posting comments to the blog posts that uses the moniker tanstaafl. I am just wondering if this person is the same as the one that I remember from here.

That is all.

Apparently, it's a rather well-known acronym -- just not by me! I'm guessing that the person who posts comments to the website is a Robert Heinlein fan. The acronym/phrase plays a big role in his book, "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress."

There are plenty of free lunches. You just need to know where to go. Animals never pay.

No sign of him in the search results. Was this before The Great RfM Crash of twenty-whenever-it-was? Somebody help me here. I have no idea of the year, but we lost the whole recovery board for some time. Eric K or Susan I/S would know.

'Twas a terrible time, me hearties (calling for Ziller...)

Like I said, I saw the moniker on the weather blog down here in Houston. And it rang the bell that I knew that name from somewhere, and that place was RFM.

It is a unique enough one that I was just wondering if it was same person. I know that there are (or were) several of you down here. If it isn't, no worries.

He was a legit poster but I believe it was spelled slightly different.

I remember tanstaafl. Wow, I haven’t been here in over a decade and I see his name coming up? We’re living in a simulation.
