As you many of you know, most churches portray pornography as a poison. And for many years I saw it that way, I stood away from it like the plague.

And of course, once I came to terms that the Church along with religion is a hoax, then I decided to finally face the great boogeyman known as pornography. As I explored pornography for those few weeks, I noticed that I didn't find it as appealing as most people do.

Quite honestly, I think tha pornography is overrated. In my opinion, the performers are the ones that are having all of the fun. It's almost like watching others eat your favorite meal.

Anyway, what's your take on pornography?

Of course "excess" may vary greatly from one person to the next.

I look at porn on the internet occassionally to get rev'ed up for my wife. I see nothing wrong with it. In my middle age, my t-level has gone down a bit, and I don't have the daily desire I once had. What I have found though it that I am not addicted to it at all. I don't find myself craving it. I don't find myself wanting more and more, nor do I have any aberrant tendencies developing.

Contrast this from the fear that the morg trys to lay on men, who dabble in porn, i.e. that they'll become sex crazed, child molesting, rapists, etc. Porn is nothing - it's recreational. I suppose some can get addicted to it, but most reasonable people don't. Moderation in all things.

I agree with Anon. It's a tool and like any tool, it can be misused. But ultimately, as long as it only involves consenting adults, it doesn't upset me. In fact, porn is pretty boring.

I think once you are out from under the control of the cult, you view things from actual experience rather than boogie-man like stories. For me, I now realize things like porn, alcohol, coffee, shopping on Sunday, and reading 'unapproved' books are not going to turn my skin darker, or make my countenance less shiny.

The funny thing is my porn use went down after I decided the church was not true. Maybe because I don't think it is evil anymore and I am not getting that excitment of doing something bad. I think things were a lot more exciting when I had the risk of getting caught when I lived with my parents and siblings. Also partaking in something that is forbidding can be pretty exhilarating.

Then
I thought I'd go to hell, but looked sometimes anyway. Loved it, followed by overwhelming guilt that was miserable.

Now
I like it sometimes. There is nudity, and graphic sex. I like both if done right. Seeing graphic sex filmed in a manner that is believable, makes the woman look equal in the relationship, isn't cartoonish, and is believable is hard to find. When I have seen it, it's very enjoyable in moderation.

Bad porn(most porn) is a mix of interesting and disgusting. Kind of like a bad car wreck. I hate women being depicted as mindless sex addicts who moan with pleasure at abusive practices. I hate bad acting. I hate the usual depiction of women in total ecstasy from the first few thrusts, and fairly disinterested abusive guys.

I never think I'm going to hell now.

I can't watch it without laughing, so I tend to ruin it for everyone else.

Slightly OT but when I was in YM the bishop combined all of the quorums for a lesson on pornography. And he started the lesson out by asking "what is Pornography?" and one of the Ultra TBM socially awkward priest, answered, "the study of porn." Thinking the suffix was ology. So funny.
