"A willing human being is difficult to find these days," said Dr Pradeep Sharmah, director of the Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture (VKIC).

I just thought this quote was funny. Sad that there are cults where they kill people because they think they are helping to fight demons.

Similarly in Christian beliefs the idea of a person being "of the devil" doesn't mean hopefully people would murder but definitely ostracize them. Strange how "these days" these things are still a force in the world.

+Elder Berry:
Why aren't the priests sacrificing themselves?
How could they call themselves priests if they don't sacrifice themselves?
Sounds to me that they don't respect their god.

Well, there wouldn't be anyone to officiate so they opted for effigy.

"The cult followers had apparently wanted live humans to revive the gory tradition, but opted for an effigy instead fearing a backlash."

Yes, it must be very difficult to find willing people for human sacrifice.

I think authorities need to take a close look at the boy who "fell blind" after witnessing a temple ceremony.
