Mormon archaeology or archaeologists or anthropologists are not regarded as credible by non Mormon scholars in these professions.

So are there any Mormon who have full time professional careers in any institution outside of BYU,or outside of the United States?

I have never personally heard of any Mormon excelling in these sciences outside of BYU.

I'd suppose that if your thesis for your degree from the Y was on Agriculture in Post-Jesus Zarahemla, you might have some difficulty working in your field outside of the BYU bubble.

I've met few archaeologist who were mormon, but none that I would describe as a "mormon archaeologist".

There was a Stanford professor--at least a teacher--who taught a class DH took about the Mayans. This was about 15 years ago. The prof had translated the Popol Vuh. After the last class DH went and talked to him about the BoM. The prof said the Mayans were not the BoM people.

Yes, the prof admitted he was a Mormon. I don't remember
his name, but he wasn't famous, especially not as a Mormon archeologist.

Mormon geologists, archeologists, botanists, zoologists, in my experience, are all reality-based in their chosen profession. They somehow compartmentalize the discrepancy between the literal interpretation of Mormon scripture and their profession.

And yet they don't rise to the top of their profession, do they? There must be something about Mormonism that inhibits their progress.

Or do I have that wrong?

Why would they do that? They wouldn't be believed.
