Just noticed that Larry King filed for divorce from his active Mormon wife who is 26 years younger than himself. Apparently they argue and live very separate lives.

I'm just surprised it lasted as long as it did with his track record.

Maybe she didn't expect him to live this long as he had a heart condition when she married him.

Usually I avoid commenting on people's personal lives because without being a fly on the wall I have no idea what their lives are like BUT virus isolation and lots of time on my hands has led to the decline in my standards and judgment. (Bednar is my exception as he is just too irresistible a target)

Continuing with my abhorrent behavior, how does an 86 year old atheist raised as a Jew connect intellectually with an active Mormon? I get that she is eye candy and he has buckets of money but apparently that wasn't enough to sustain them "until death do they part".

The marriage would have never happened if he wasn’t loaded. It is what it is. She’s a trophy wife who happens to be Mormon. He’s a loaded old ugly guy who can buy young wives.

They separated in ->2019<- and she filed for divorce in August last year.

King is a serial monogamist having been married eight times.

After King has been dead for a year, he will be baptized into the church. Knowing mormons, each of his 8 wives will then be sealed to him after they too have died.

He's already got a great head start to his celestial harem.

Lots of mormon families encourage single women to flirt to convert. It's all about money.

In my ward, there was a replica of Larry King. A very likable Jewish man had married a much younger woman. She gave him several children, all of them with serious birth defects (both physical and cognitive).

He had lots of money (which eventually ran out and they all moved out of state). He was very funny and much of his humor was unappreciated by the leaders. I never understood why he agreed to join. I think there was a lot of pressure to persuade him to join and then she had 3 high risk pregnancies in a row.

This will be his eighth divorce? Yeesh. At least he and Shawn had a decently long run at 20 years plus. I see King also recently lost two of his adult children from another marriage.

Shawn looks good for 60, but her facial skin is stretched so tight that you could bounce off of it. I guess she wants her "work" to last for a while.

My favorite what-did-they-see-in-each-other story:

A friend said when she was 14 years old she saw a yellow Corvette and vowed, "Someday I'm going to marry someone with a car like that." A few years later she met a guy with a yellow Corvette and married him. "Yeah, I knew it wasn't the best reason to marry someone. But he married me for my boobs, so we both had misplaced values." They divorced a few years later.

It was probably all the mileage; time and the road do put some sag in the suspension(s).
