Ardern, in case you don't know, is exmormon and is in her first term as the prime minister of New Zealand.

She likes to keep it in the family. Her other half is high up in Kiwi TV, two of her cousins are also politicians, and her dad gets well paid diplomatic work.

Oh and her ?uncle is an Area Authority for the LDS. She dropped the religion when she realized it would get in the way of her political career.

So she's responsible for her cousins' and father's professions? That's impressive!

How would being Mormon interfere with her political career? There are plenty of Mormons in politics, both in the US, and NZ. I would assume she left for the same reason many of us did. She realized it was bullpucky.

I saw a video the other day of her Area Authority relative speaking at a new Maori-language ward.

Yeah, when you're prime minister, you tend to have a say in candidate selections, and who's high commissioner/ambassador to somewhere... So YES SHE IS.

Um, these people had their careers long before she became PM. Especially her father.

Her hubby was already a TV fishing pro before she was prime Minister. And her dad was a diplomat already. Her uncle being a church leader has nothing to do with her. If you don't like her politics, cool. Just say that. :-)

What's remarkable is the way that the same men, sometimes in their own name and sometimes ironically in anonymous drag, always criticize prominent women political leaders. It's always the same posters.

They come from an era in which men told women to go do the dishes while they sat on the couch making mildly misogynistic jokes while watching Superbowl commercials. At some point they start to look pathetic.

I had read her bio a long time ago and followed her a bit ever since. Her bio included this which seems somewhat different than True Detective's assertion that Mormonism got in the way of her politics:

"Raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand, Ardern left the church in 2005 because, she said, it conflicted with her personal views, in particular her support for gay rights. In January 2017, Ardern identified as "agnostic"."

So far she has shown the courage of her convictions as far as I'm concerned which is pretty tricky for any politician. For the leader of New Zealand to capture the world's attention as she has, she must have something going for her besides politics as usual.

If she'd been in politics fifty years ago, she'd be out there kissing babies and would have converted to Anglicanism (the mainstream denom of the time in NZ).

A git who's obsessed with trolling this board, keeps popping up under different names, spouting far-right bunk, and harassing anyone who calls him out on his behavior.

You'll notice additionally that there are a category of older men on this site who constantly attack any successful young woman--Arden, Thunberg, others--in demeaning terms. Jordan is one of those insecure seniors.

Jacinda Ardern is forty.

Compared to who is running (sort of) our government from the Pres to the Senate to the House--- Jacinda is a child at forty. They're all kids to me now.

I remember when Kennedy was elected at 43 and there was a lot of hubbub about how he was too young. Well, as well as the hubbub over him being too Catholic. All the Mormons I knew were saying with fear, "He will do anything the Pope tells him to do."

Compare that with a TBM doing anything the Mormon Prophet tells him to do which was a lot of the fear with Romney.

Now most politicians will do whatever their religious base tells them to do. Bibles in the air where everyone can see them, folks!

If you save all Jordan's posts they are very useful in making you drowsy if you suffer insomnia.

Saving them can be difficult, because when he goes off the rails, which is fairly often, he gets deleted.

Note how he is Kia and True Detective in this thread as well as Endless Nameless in the other.

Infantile is too restrained a word for him.

It must be a terrible thing to wake up as an older adult realizing Mormonism is a complete bunch of hog wash and trying not to throw the hog out of your wash.

Yeah, it was a wonderful read (if it is what I was reading going out the door this morning).

Makes you Miss America.

Where is she anyway?

People Are People.

It would be nice if there were more around here (that were actually people, I mean).

Nice leader~

I'm told by Kiwis she's very quiet about her LDS background. She only discusses it if someone else mentions it.
