"No matter our situation, showing gratitude for our privileges is a unique, fast-acting, and long-lasting spiritual prescription."
https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/inspiration/the-story-behind-my-global-prayer-of-gratitude?lang=eng

You can thank the holy lighted pen for that.

Seriously? What exactly is "showing gratitude for our privileges" all about? Seven days of posting? Some people post seven times seventy posts in seven months others seven years. Gratitude is great but sharing it on social media grows as tiresome as those picture quotes with blinking angels. And it also is a platform for those posts we all know and love - the grateful boasting posts.

One would think Prophet Nelson could have had something more inspiring to say since he has the direct nightline to God.

Some encouragement. Something enlightening. Something to take our minds off of this time.

Nope. Take stock in your stock portfolios and thank God you've got a job and say it on Facebook. Hold tight to your pillow and say it to God directly.

I'm surprised he didn't throw in the scripture reading somehow. Well, I bet this is a teaser for his Christmas message. More boring platitudes and reminders of how privileged Mormons are.

What insight! I need to ponderize that.

Well, I didn't say it but it struck me as something a drug company would say. I didn't know what to make of it. He is a "faith leader" and selling his religion like a drug.

The naked prophet. Or the naked lunch profit.

I will admit to having watched the speech on Youtube.

It gave gruel a bad name.

"Flood social media." This is why people unfollow TBMs. They become unbearable.

"No matter who you are, you can pray to your Heavenly Father for guidance and direction in your life. If you learn to hear the Lord through His promptings, you may receive divine guidance in matters large and small."

Nelson comes off as being an extremely privileged person. Has he ever known a day of want in his life? Does he think that people in dire situations don't pray for relief that never comes?

By heavenly father, do they mean the father who is in space? Space heaven?

Sometimes I wonder if I'm just not very well-informed, and maybe that the Mormon cult is doing something good for others, from behind the scenes--but wait. The Mormons put a HUGE media hype onto any little thing they do that is of the least bit of merit.

Remember all those yellow "MORMON" tee shirts? Instead of flying in supplies for the hurricaine survivors, they flew in a few well-placed groups of yellow Mormons, and all their camera crews and equipment, instead of bulky food and water supplies. I don't know of any tithing money was spent on this advertising--but I do know that my Mormon neighbors all donated EXTRA money to the Mormon "Disaster Relief Fund." The members donate, and the cult takes the credit.

This past year, I don't know of any Mormons donating to anything, here in SLC. They are hunkering down, in fear of llosing their money and jobs. This week, they are travelling to gather with their families, and the only ones I know who are giving away food are community organizations, local businesses, and groups sponsored by many other religions. No, the Mormons gather in their churches, and take the sacrament, and spread their diseases, and continue to pay 10% of their salaries for--for what?

I think of Rusty and the gang commuting back and forth through those tunnels under temple square, and having their secret caves collapse, because of all the construction to make everything appear bigger and more majestic on the surface.

Avoid contagious diseases--physically and mentally.

It mainly works if you are privileged.

I read it as a dog whistle for white privilege, the pendulum swinging far the other way in an attempt to distance the church from BY’s white supremacy.

Doing it in public is known as "humble bragging."

He is now billed as "a Global Faith Leader"

Hey Rusty...

Why not REALLY do something to help your fellow humanity Bro???

It costs approx $8000-USD to drill and prep a water well throughout most of Africa that will serve a minimum of 2,000 souls for at least 20-years.

Donate just 1 (one)...& I repeat just 1 (one) of your $150-Billions and TRULY make a difference for the first time in your career as a so-called "Prophet" of God. Maybe She'll finally open Her windows of heaven and pour out Her blessings upon your Corporation.

Hoarding $$$ does absolutely nobody any good.

Or so it seems to me...

Nope. But some things linger in the atmosphere long after they occurred.

Like radiation after a nuclear explosion.

I think it means being thankful for gifts and favors.

Do I dare ask what gifts and favors people receive in the church?

Here's what I think it means.

Be thankful that we allow you to pay to belong to god's church.

My personal story: I was told to "Count My Blessings" after my home burned down. The church told me to grateful for my personal disaster.

Is that the kind of thing that this person writes?
I thought that the jewish god whispered in his ear. I thought that he had the batphone to the gods.

Does he write anything interesting? Something that is beyond our human knowledge currently and verifiable?

How about compassionate, helpful, encouraging? Even if he had special divine knowledge, if it isn't the human condition he is inspired about who cares? The people who want to hop on a spaceship with all their dead ghosts for a trip to Kolob?

He comes up with a "prescription". What arrogance and audacity.
The unselfish, herculean efforts of those who are coming up with the vaccines, the frontline workers, truck drivers; these are the heroes who have prescriptions for us.

Where are he and the "apostles"? Not out there healing the sick or raising the dead. No revelation to them about vaccines.
Not one of them handing out food for those who have lost their jobs, or Dr. Rusty working in the ICU's.

I am very grateful to all of these incredible, unselfish heros.

He wouldn't go anywhere...

LDS idol worship
don't float my boat

There are so many of these posts on the same topic I don't know which ones to comment on or which one to return to; there might be a seperate page for this topic, or combining similar topics.

I guess I'll go about my day, working play. AVOIDING anything and everything mormon, stupid, crazy or ridiculous.

Today, and EVERYDAY, I seek (before and) after these things: uplifting natural beauty, random intelligence, honest - and polite - people, exciting experiences, fun and games...

Leaving mormonism like a tree LEAVES a dead leaf. I left a long time ago. I [am] right!

I LEAD, but mormons don't know how to, MUCH LESS whom, or WHAT, to follow.

People might think you are no longer one of us [LDS].

Don't think ahead, or at all...
Don't think of others, for sure-
Unless we tell you to.

Wait for our call-

DON'T call us
We'll call you

When you've grown
Six foot or two

Study the strictures
Only the good stuff
(Our version)

There is no good stuff
It's ALL Bad. Okay? (Southpark)

Folow us. We are going in circles, backward.

DON'T FOLLOW US or we will follow you; watch everything you do; make you do it again if you don't do it right.

Be mean towards others, if they aren't LDS. Be nice, nicer than possible, if they are. Talk about things that aren't important. Meet about nothing. Know haute drinks.

Are we misleading you enough?
Would you like to know more?
