Totally, that's his shtick.
He's famous for being "Politically Incorrect", the show that got him fired from ABC for saying "We have been the cowards, lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, it's not cowardly."
Then HBO picked him up and he's been saying just as offensive "bit of an ass" things for the past 20+ years on Real Time.
I love the guy.
Real Time is awesome.
I agree with him about 95% of the time.
He's a bit of an extremist when it comes to animals, but hey, I"m glad we live in a country where guys like Bill Maher have not been sent to Gitmo for making fun of politicians, who deserve it.
Especially the one on his way out.

No, Mother Nature invented evolution.
Darwin just observed it and articulated the scientific theory of evolution by natural selection, which was conceived independently by him and Alfred Russel Wallace in the mid-19th century and was set out in detail in Darwin's book On the Origin of Species.

I am a fan of Bill Maher and I have even been to a couple of his live shows. I also think he is not that left-wing. Seriously. He makes fun of the "woke" crowd and points out how silly the far left can act sometimes.

"Religioulus" is one of my favorite documentaries. It is worth the watch.

I do agree that it is important for the left, and especially the far left, to realize that they should not further the political divide and try to give their right-wing friends and relatives a little more leeway and understanding. I'm sure there is some "woke" person reading this that's going to tell me there is no walking back the statements and sentiments of the right but I think we should try. We have to try and find common ground. Even if it is just the fact that we don't want to pay more than our fair share of the taxes. I think we could at least agree on that.
