Just use the special kiss that Mephistopheles gave you when you sold him your soul for a long train ride.

Is that what you are? You've the creds to prove it!

"Alpha refers to a dominant person or their behavior, especially with respect to socially aggressive, hyper-masculine men. Some dudebros see alpha as a compliment and aspiration. Others people see right into the small, sad, insecure hearts of the trying-too-hard alpha."

This, from the Harvard Business Review:

Highly intelligent, confident, and successful, alpha males represent about 70% of all senior executives. As the label implies, they’re the people who aren’t happy unless they’re the top dogs—the ones calling the shots...Alphas reach the top ranks in large organizations because they are natural leaders—comfortable with responsibility in a way nonalphas can never be. Most people feel stress when they have to make important decisions; alphas get stressed when tough decisions don’t rest in their capable hands. For them, being in charge delivers such a thrill, they willingly take on levels of responsibility most rational people would find overwhelming. In fact, it’s hard to imagine the modern corporation without alpha leaders.

(I would add, in addition to seeking responsibility, there's also the appeal of risk-taking.)

Somehow, this seemed germane to our conversation:

I'm comfortable with whatever you want to call my position in your social hierarchy is. It is your sensitivity to it not mine.

Life is more than "being in charge" with "such a thrill" and taking on "levels of responsibility most rational people would find overwhelming."

This seems apropos to your song.

I never officially registered, but I hope I count. I've been a contributing member for years.

(I tried to register officially years ago, but the system said there was already a "catnip," so I couldn't use that name.)

Bah humbug. I'm the only catnip I know.

You mean pick a nick and stick? LOL. It will help you from being deleted. As to an actual number, there really isn't one. No registration or log in required. Registrations dropped with upgrades/moves. The thing that matters is that there are enough of us to drive CZ batshit crazy :P

This is like giving a world population. An exact number is not necessary. I just want an idea of more or less how many there are. Absolute precision is not required.

When I ask someone their age, they tend to give me an approximation. (ex: 33 y old instead of 33 y old 5 month 2 days)

Hundreds and hundreds since I have been here around 2009. Many come and go rather quickly.

I would say there is less traffic now because it's not hard to find company when you leave Mormonism nowadays as it was back in the old days and you were all alone. And if misery loves company, new found knowledge and a new found way to be whole, love company even more. Also, I left without the facts and the ones leaving now have whole arsenal of them.

Some need to be done with it. Others continue sipping like a fine wine, and, genuinely want to help. Others are here to show off.

For me I have something in common here with others that no one in my real life could possibly understand.

One tip-off to how many lurk here even if they seldom post is when a favorite dies and the remembrance posts go up to a hundred in no time.

Well, if 66% of today's youth are quitting, that is a very high number.
It would be like maybe 2 to 4 million quitting.

You see the regular posters on a continuing basis, so you know how many of those there are.

As for the people who lurk and rarely or never post, a thread that requires them to post to let you know they are here but never post is not likely to work all that well. 'Tis a puzzlement.
