Because of Covid-19, many Mormons are/were not going to church. Since they are not going to church, they have a lot of time alone, and they miss church, so they read about it on the internet. They stumble upon the information the Church does not want them to read, and they start to lose their testimonies. They don't spend time around other Mormons, so there is nobody around to tell them they should not be reading such things.

Often people don't start to question the Church until they get depressed. A lot of people are depressed during Covid-19. They don't feel the Church is helping them enough. So they broaden their horizons and look elsewhere.

If you thought you were riding in ghawd's very own car, and it broke down and if neither the driver got out to fix it, nor Auto Club Angels show up to tow it, wouldn't you wonder if you'd picked the right car to ride in?

TBM's, if they look around, will see that they are in the same sad shape as the rest of organized religion.

It doesn't mean they'll draw the inferences we'd like them to...mormonism wouldn't be the cult it is if members weren't so 'cult-ured'.

I think most will go back, because that's what TBMs do. But some will have gotten out of the church habit.

If you're LDS you won't, cannot, will not, can never, can't, absolutely won't miss the most accompanying part of church service this week, this month, or not attend this nearly entire past year.

Uhhh.. you just did that, didn't ya?

What surprises me is that aside from General Conference, the COB hasn't brought in their extensive resources of money, technological and human assets to fill the gap between church attendance and fellowship and people staying at home.

Or am I missing something? Are there on-line activities that occur, but hasn't been reported on RfM? Even my independent Baptist church has on-line services (Facebook Live, Mixler, and business meetings on Zoom), with fairly extensive email and text chains for prayer requests, personal chat, info, etc. When we have met, there has been an adequate volunteer corps (core?) to clean and sanitize the premises. What about LDS wards? Anything from the stake level? The COB?

Incidentally, donations and membership/baptisms have increased throughout 2020.

That shouldn't be surprising... coming from a 'church' that GIVES As LITTLE As Possible while asking for As MUCH As Impossible, while TAKING As Much TIME to DO NOTHING as it possibly can, whilst professing it is doing as much as it can in its powerLESSness.

The 'church' is out of touch with the members. The members are doing ALL THE WORK, all the reaching out and touching someone, visiting the sick (or not), busy work/ "church work", "MINISTERING" (haahashhahaahhhaa), teaching each other lessons, praying, diverting food, and delivering it, cleaning, calling, meetings about nothing, because they are, gossip sessions, that kind of stuff, but NOTHING that I've heard of from the misleaders.

NOT providing Meeting, Play, Practice, Work or Worship Space, No Ideas on how to Help, Connect, Outreach, Offer MEALS, Wi-Fi, Services, Referrals, Guidance, Shelter, Counseling, Assistance, Mentorship, Apprenticeships, not even Friendship (no ships! you have to provide your own ship).

I think it still offers promises. But other than that...

Mormonism doesn't know what to do, so, It Does Nothing.

It surely doesn't lead.
Blindly follows at best.

It should really like the pandemic then. Not having to accomplish very much.

Maybe coming out of the wash looking way too much like Scientology though.

Such a tragedy, the Temple marriage only two intersecting heavenly Christmas stars could have maybe brought this close together. And perhaps exactly like those two distant glowing globes, so close yet so very far away.
