My dad is stoked about the at-home lessons the church came up with. I gotta admit, last year wasn't so bad. But, this year, its just been, someone disagrees with Joseph Smith. God is really angry now, everyone has to listen to Joseph Smith or else something really horrible will happen to him/you/everyone/whoever! Over and Over. The delivery reminds me of a catty woman talking crap about her neighbors, but with the authority of God backing it up.

If you are half way in... If you view the BOM as metaphor, or are looking for the positive in the whole pile, then this year makes it really really hard.

This will push out even more moderate reasonable people from the church.

Agree.

The D&C is one example after another of JS using God to get whatever he wanted.

You have a farm? Well, God said hand it over.
I want to screw more women. God said so.
And on and on.

A perfect opportunity to look up old Revelations that were in Book of Commandments and bring up comparisons to Doctrine and Covenants version. Note any changes.

A good time to bring up Changes from church sources - like original calling of a First PResidency that was changed when one of them left on a mission and just walked off - not to be heard from again.

I'd love to see how they treat D&C 132.
I imagine they skim right over "The Law of the Priesthood" (verses 61-65) since admitting Joseph Smith violated it 11 times by 'marrying' his follower's wives.
