It's her job, as in she appraises these things. But, yeah, they do homework, too.

Right now I'm watching a program about Elizebeth Smith Friedman. The best part is that I can finally say that I read the book first!

Oh yeah, she's a hero. Great story.

Is it on Hallmark tonight?

Har.

Hey - this weekend they're airing a program about Marriner Eccles.

My thread is now ON TOPIC.

Coleridge wrote about Eccles if I remember correctly.

I thought you were going to make a joke about the cake, but no. Had to make fun of the squids.

It's only a matter of time before you buy an albatross to keep the ducks in line.

I've got one, although mine is a recent (1990s?) reproduction. Standard gauge is fantastic---if you have the room. The Blue Comet was the last hurrah for standard, "O" gauge took over the catalogs after that.

Interesting take on this show.

"There are much healthier approaches to archaeology and history on television. The popularity of programmes that dig up the past is terrific – and it has nothing to do with dosh. The Time Team don't hold a car boot sale at the end and sell off the stuff they have found. But Antiques Roadshow is an advert for a sleazy industry. The antiques business prospers by turning heritage and culture into a racket. It turns us all into money-grasping cynics who would sell Magna Carta, given half a chance."

The price for collectible toy trains continues to decline.

My Dad collected Lionel sets. I have a standard gauge set, but it's nothing compared to the Blue Comet.
