My first thought was that they’re worthless and don’t even belong in a thrift shop,
but then I remembered the recent toilet paper shortage... ;)

One of the great disappointments of my life was when I realized that publishers take the books they can't sell and "pulp" them because the cost of storing them is greater than their value. What an ignominious end to objects with such great intellectual and emotional worth.

[Xhosa and Zulu are considered separate languages because they refer to different tribes (with somewhat different histories), but the content of each language is intelligible to members of the "other" tribe.]
