Yeah, all I did was quote a BYU study from the 1990's that found that 58% of females admitted to having pre-marital sex, and that fewer than 70% of LDS marriages last more than 10 years, which is the lowest percentage among white people claiming religious affiliations. See? Mormons are normal folk with normal problems. It's not a time to claim moral superiority.

nothing more current available?

"pre-marital sex" suggests that (all) people who have sex are going to get married...

Not So

Excellent analysis!

If you never tie the knot, you can never have premarital sex!

Just premature sex for your whole life.

I'm probably not destined to live a 'whole life'. No matter how old I become, death -when it comes- will cut me off in my prime.

So even when your time comes you will be having a premature in the end. Always premature.

"If you never tie the knot, you can never have premarital sex!"

Whoa. If the kids at BYU find out about this nobody is going to have to soak anymore. "No Bishop. I have never had pre-marital sex."

So simple!

Priesthood does nothing.

Prayer only makes some people feel better, does not solve problems.

Church leaders do not have the answers and give terrible advice.

How many times have we heard stories about using credit cards to pay tithing?

That is where I fit in. Who ever knew!?!? I was a true mormon virgin.

I was a true virgin at one time too, not any more.

If one can't remember sex anymore does that make them a virgin again?

If the virgin enthusiasm and mentality is displayed, that's good enough for me.

Ask EOD. He can barely remember what he had for lunch two hours ago.

The truth is light and knowledge. It is the one thing mormons fear.

Yes, you too can be come a virgin again!

"You can still decide to stop sexual activity, starting now even if you have already had sex, or if you have engaged in other forms of sexual arousal or gratification."

"Secondary virginity means that you care enough about yourself and your future to save sex for the right person and the right time – marriage. Deciding to start over is the hardest part."

See your bishop to lay out a repentance plan. After a thorough and exhaustive review of your past behavior, with his powers of discernment, he will furnish you with a path forward to becoming a virgin again!

Ha ha. There is something very "SNL" about what you wrote. I could hear it in the voice of Gilda Radner.

Seriously though, I read an article a long time ago about surgeons actually performing a procedure to put in new hymens. This was mostly being taken advantage of by women who could be stoned to death for not having one at worst, or being dumped by a potential husband at best. Confidential hymen repair is a thing.
Where there is a will there is a way!

The comparable medical procedure for a male is called a rickover.

Hmmmm. Tempting. Including a set of Ginsu knives might seal the deal.

Only 58%? I know very few mormons, actually I don't know any, who lived together before marrying in the temple. Unless they confessed, promised not to do it again for a year, and lived separately until then (and had sex in secret on the side, like most mormons do). But I know very few who I think would admit to not having had sexual relations before they got married, if they were being perfectly honest. It would truly surprise me if it was almost half, as your stats show. Just isn't believable in 2021.

Well, they don't LIVE together. But the cases I know of, they were just very careful. The cases I know of where one of the people was found out by roommates, no one turned them in for fear of making a situation worse. Shortly after my mission I dated a girl in the University 35th Ward. We made out on the grassy slope near the Maeser building. She was really handsy (and cute!), and wanted to have sex sometime. It turns out that my best friend had had sex with her. But I was too much a believer. I really missed out, as so many of you have, by trying to stay virgin. What a waste.

I do think in our day it was a lot more common to try to keep the good ol virginity in tact until marriage. I just think it's WAY different now, almost half a century later. The old guard--Rusty and the boys probably think the kiddos now are the same as they were in their day. Not hardly.

Not quite sure. My post was locked up for a while. Some people are touchy.

From what I understand from my limited experience, pretty much anything can get you put in FB Jail if enough people complain about it. Bad way to mod IMHO.

Well, just a couple of weeks ago I found a link to the original archived 2011 SLTrib article. I should have bookmarked it, but didn't. So I've been searching to find it again for you, but so far only came up with this reference to it:

I admire the heck out of real optimists!

But I don't think they are going to ID the girls, much less provide phone numbers.

I am interested in that statistic link and also the FB link. I will post it myself and a few other things to spread the data.
My philosophy is, evidence is very important, data is very important. It should be shared.
Facts are nothing to be shamed of. Facts are for everyone.
