There are 105 videos on that page!

And at the bottom, there's a link you can hit to see more!

But I get that gist of it is that kids need more sleep!!

D'acord!

I can see two problems with early morning seminary.

Well, it's been ages since it was just two. And the spawn of Satan have never darkened a seminary building's entry.

The correct answer is that early morning seminary is 1) seminary, and 2) in the early morning.

It's rather well known in education circles that high school students need lots of sleep, and benefit from later school start times.

Aren't people more easily influenced when they are in a semi-awake state? Maybe that equates to some tangible benefit over time for the church.

The Good:

I don't know how I would have made it this far without the life lessons learned from the filmstrip....Tom Trails. <beep>

The Bad:

Over my four years of early morning seminary, I had 99% attendance. Bonus - Once during scripture chase my brain was moving faster than my mouth and I started stuttering giving the Bible reference. I soon discovered saying "Shit!" outloud cured my problem. Unfortunately, when I got home my older sister told my mom. Shit!!

The Ugly:

At school, in the afternoon after lunch, I couldn't keep my eyes open. I would just lay my head down on my desk and sleep through my classes. I have no doubt my teachers thought I was doing drugs during lunch.

Each year in some sort of seminary orientation after a sacrament meeting with our parents, we were told that one of the "blessings" of attending seminary was that our grades would improve. My grades declined each year. Fortunately my Bishop wrote me a stellar letter of recommendation to BYU that must have allowed me to get in despite my horrible GPA.

Tom Trails film strips and that 'beep'? God Lord Almighty, please, somebody gag me with a large BBQ fork! Even 45 yuckin' fears ago in seminary, I had nasty thoughts that dear Tom should be hit by a school bus as he was absentmindedly staring at Lily, wondering if he should ask her out to early morning seminary. Tom always seemed to be miserably depressed over her. He needed to be put out of his misery, or just let her be happy going out with what's his face, Tom's rival, the popular basketball dude. LOL!

Here ya go, the episode where <<spoiler alert>> dear Lily dies -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcBjRnlZuZ8

Just not the same without the beeps (but you can still hear them in your head). When the shot of Lily's cold, dead hand hanging out the car window hit the screen, my seminary class erupted in "loud laughter".

Happy Lily buying her dress, but watch out, here comes Tom, ol' 'Debby Downer' himself. I had to laugh when Tom asks the other guy, "Is she hurt bad?" The first thing I thought of was the Benny Hill show when someone asks, "Does it hurt bad?" and Benny's character comes back with, "Ever hear of anybody being hurt GOOD?" LOL!

Questions:

Do they still have 'released time' seminary in the IMW?

Will early-morning seminary ever bite ChurchCo in their A**?

Oh Well, just another joy of being Mormon, I'm guessing...

They had release time seminary when I was a high school student in Idaho. Of course, that was ten years ago (my hair started to turn grey writing that) and could have changed.

As for whether early-morning seminary will bit the Morg in the ass, doubt it. To admit a mistake would mean the Morg is less than perfect and "be ye therefore perfect" is a commandment in Mormonism. Plus, as Wowza pointed out, folks tend to be more easily influenced when sleep deprived.

It slept in and has had to settle for being way at the end of the line.

You guys would never make it on a working farm, cattle or dairy operation.

Up early for milking, feeding, equipment prep.

Up late too many times, especially planting and harvest as well as calving season. At times all night vigil during calving - with minor dozing while next to a cow on the virge of popping the calf. Then school that morning after a quick shower.

Down time as well for us but the Dairy folk - never.

What's the difference between prison and dairy farming?

Prisoners don't have to milk cows. (Pah-dah-bump)

In a lot of things, ChurchCo just can't seem to get it Right, except for themselves....

Do / did they still have 'released time' (pre-covid)?

Glad I never attended seminary. I was totally inactive then with my parents consent. Dodged that bullet!

Wow.

From total inactivity to a mission and even an AP-ship. You were a true Prodigal Son returning from a life of adolescent debauchery (but probably not much of the good sort) to his family and faith.

But then you returned to a life of sin--like a dog to its vomit or a pig to its mire. You, Roy, are a walking, talking illustration of New Testament allegory!

That's me! Years of sex, drugs and rock and roll, only to return to the fold and become a high achiever and role model for the youth......but then one day, after a full meal of mormonism, I puked and it looked so good that I went back to it. I like having mire in all my folds, creases and wrinkles too.

As far as allagories go, I don't have any, but pollen sure bothers my wife!

That works!

No problem. Pollenation can wait. I have a headache anyway.

Easy come, easy go.
