Tomorrow me and hubby get our first COVID vaccinations; feeling a little apprehensive but I know it’s going to be the light at the end of the tunnel; just don’t want to drift towards it yet.:)
Things where I live are still not organized enough to include us, so please add us to your "Good Wishes" List, and maybe it will speed up the process around here!
My friend in assisted living got hers with all the rest of the residents. I figure around 120 people. A couple of sore arms but that was it for both shots. I figure if she can get it at 90 Hubby and I will be fine. He is on the waiting list and chances are good that he will get it drive through :) It will be a while for me but we will both get it as soon as we can.
Let us know how it goes but my bet is that it will be fine for you too :)
I got my second shot last Thursday, my wife is away getting her second right now, and her 97 year old mom who we take care of got her first one on Monday. Wife had a sore arm, I didn't. I felt a little tired about 5 days later on both....found myself yawning yesterday by mid-afternoon and was quite sleepy in the evening, but otherwise no symptoms.
Still have to follow protocols for safety but it feels good having it done and knowing there is some protection from it now, and that eventually we can get back to a somewhat normal social existence.
Good luck. All the really really old people around me had no problem. My mother at 92 had no reactions. I felt nothing the first shot. Not surprised. Never had a reaction to anything. Hadn't even been sick in fifteen years.
The day after I got the second shot I had really bad chills and aches and flu-like symptoms while at work. Went home to bed and slept for five hours under the covers fully clothed with a sweater on as well. Then it just broke and went away rapidly. Weird how fast it went away.
Wishing you smooth sailing, but, it is worth it no matter what.
My symptoms kinda reminded me of the old flu shot, sore arm, a little achy and most irritating was the fatigue. The good thing? It lasted all of 3 day and all of it was gone...
Hope you both have mild reactions and make sure you get the second injection on time.
Well, we got done with the first shots and scheduled in 3 weeks for the 2nd one...no side effects so far... so glad to have done it. It is amazing that the people who created the vaccines were able to do it in record time ; wonderful people who are involved with all of this process. Thank you everyone for your comments and encouragement and humor. You guys are so funny and this is is one of the reasons I love this forum.
I have had both of mine since we had priority at my assisted living. Only soreness at the injection site; I had no other side effects from either dose :)

I was one of those people with strong side effects, both times. It felt like I had a bad case of the flu. The second time, I was also quite dizzy which surprised me. I wasn't expecting that.
If you do get side effects, they should mostly be gone within 48 hours. Just know that you may need some rest or a day or two afterward.
I (divorced from 2 RNs) think the COVID shots are given "IM" where in nursing lingo means 'in the muscle' so therefore I'm glad all the 'olders' (ppl older than I am) have muscle to receive the vax;
