I love Minerva's art but it was done for and in a place that is anathema to art.

And acting out the Mormon passion play was Mormon volunteering opportunities that have died like the dinosaurs. Thank God.

The renovation decision was made like a huge multibillion dollar multinational corporation and not a religion.

They didn't rebuild their Notre Dame and that is a good thing because it is another "sign of the times" for Mormons that their religious believes have more in common with Coca Cola than Kolob.

I'm koo koo for Kolob Kola! Or I was when I was a believer. I talked to a guy at a live drawing session on Saturday and he said he talked to someone at Temple Square recently when he was traveling through Utah and this person was a missionary who had no idea what Kolob was. She was an elderly woman from Africa. I wonder if they don't teach that anymore?

Hie to Kolob is still a popular hymn, but Kolob is mainly mentioned in the Book of Abraham and missionaries only really study the parts about the Heavenly Council and Degrees of Glory.

Makes me wonder what dangling doctrines are still hanging out of Elohim's pants that might cause a stir? Jesus and Lucifer are brothers?

I was through the Cardston temple when they did the big resto about 30 years ago and I still think it would make a bitchin' casino/steak house destination. Just add a pool next to the font and BINGO!

I was thinking about this overnight.

My attitude is mostly that if they are going to redo the temples, then why not just tear them down, but if they are going to destroy any part of the church, why art? At least THIS will bother more members, especially the older ones.

Because they are not open about not putting the art before the course.

Old Mormonism required something more to inspire. It required the investment of ordinary and run of the mill Mormons and Mormonism.

Now Mormons can be instructed by a professionally produced movie. It is now a golden bible age of Mormonism. In so many decades they might sell off their temples and have "home temples." God knows many many polygamists and spin off groups do home temple work.

Better than fart before the next course.
