Although it's been less than a year since our last fund raiser, it's time to do it again. Why? We didn't get quite enough last time to run the site for a year. We hate to ask for money, but the cost realities of hosting, bandwidth, etc. require us to occasionally ask for donations. Our last one was in July of 2020 and our account at the ISP is already depleted.

The site costs about $2500/year to operate, and our goal is to raise two years worth of funding or $5000.

No one is required to donate. This is strictly voluntary and we're not going to push anyone into doing it. If you're broke, then don't worry about giving your "widow's mite". The site does need money, but not badly enough to harm a donor. However, if you do have the money and you feel that the world is better with exmormon.org up and running, then a donation would be greatly appreciated. If you happen to be feeling flush, dig deep! Remember that we didn't even get enough for the entire year last time and we don't want to repeat that situation.

Imagine how the community here has helped you through the Covid crisis. Plus, exmormon.org is cheaper than Starbucks and waaaay cheaper then tithing. And think of the leverage your donations here enable against the church! How many dollars of tithing money has Exmormon.org deprived Mormonism of for every dollar donated here? I don't know, but it's a fun thing to think about.

Remember that no one in our administrative/moderator cadre gets paid for their work. We are strictly volunteers. All of the donated money goes to paying expenses involved in running the site.

We will post an anonymized list of donations as they come in. We will also pull down this request as soon as we have enough money for the coming year.

The $1100 does not include direct payments to Wingnet. I will add those when they give me the number.

You should switch to EOD's hosting service. There's not much different between a Wingnet and a Wingnut.

My cheque is coming from the Great White (snowy/frozen) North so who knows how long it takes to get to America. It's up to a week this year so far to travel 20 miles by post.

Yes, our ISP is Wingnet. We are looking at cheaper options such as making this current bb static - ie nothing will get lost and all posts saved for searching, but cannot add to it and have a new bb. That will save us a ton right there. Being worked on now.

I am going to go out on a limb (given that I donated just under 10% of the current total, I don't mind the effort) and opine that some of the 'by-the-word-count' leading writers may not have done right by RfM.

I know that the owner(s)/ruler(s) of this website are not charging by the word, but I don't mind calling out some of the leading lights here, [*** individuals' names edited out by CZ ***], etc., to look into their souls, along with their pocketbooks, if they haven't already done so.

At least one of these individuals is still working, just got a new, higher-paying job, and uses quite a large portion of the resources. I think it would be very tacky if that RfMer didn't kick in a nice chunk of change.

Should the owner(s)/ruler(s) think like that?

Should they care what we, the plebes think?

Please don't call out individuals. We don't know anyone's particular circumstances or ability to pay and don't want to make anyone feel bad about the fundraiser.

We're not the cult. We're here to help people.

Plus I'm the only one who is allowed to make people feel guilty here. (Well... Susan I/S has perpetual permission to do so, but she guards her powers jealously.)

Here's my guilt trip: If you have the means and you make use of the board, please donate generously. We really do need the full $2500 to keep running for another year, otherwise we're going to have to have another fundraiser before that. I don't want this place to turn into public radio with its endless agonizing pledge breaks.

I thank you all for your generosity in donating, as well as for the insightful words that you post on the board. Both are important for our mission of helping to heal those harmed by Mormonism.

I don't understand how the Mormon church isn't funding RfM as a means for harvesting names and sending out people to bother exmos.

I tried. When I was a member, I even posted my membership number here. I really hoped to be contacted by the SCMC, but I guess they didn’t see me as a threat.

IF Mormonism cared, it would (Feel Something) [Say Something] DO SOMETHING... like Tithe on itself, you know, Practice What It Preaches, put ONE TENTH of 10℅ into DOING GOD'S WORK: helping those it has harmed, lied to, mislead, silenced, shunned, screwed, forgotten (children of God? Right), neglected, defrauded, taken advantage of ("callings"/ appointments [disappointments]/ positions and impositions), defamed, deluded, conned, dragged through the mud, etc., etc., etc. = Giving Back, Paying It Forward, Doing Good Deeds.

Instead, it is doing nothing.

It thinks ONLY of itself.

Because the "leaders" can't even follow their own commands (like begging, healing, rolling over, or, well, maybe just playing dead), the tin commandmints, their own suggestions, or even the particles of flakes.

With the millions, and billions, TSCC wastes, it's people it doesn't care about... Until [IF they are men] they reach the top.

It would rather build buildings - of faith, fate and marble - than have fair trade, harmonious communities, and healthy, honest, open discussion.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa cause we have until Christmas to help people with their Mormonism.

Ensign Peak Advisors really should be donating to RfM. A modest donation from them ($100K) is less than a millionth of what they've accumulated from tithe payers, and we're cleaning up so much damage that the church has done. That amount could keep us up and running for a long time.

C'mon, EPA guys, at least consider it. For a donation of $100K, I'll not only supply a gift of an original artwork, but I'll cook the donor a nice dinner at my place. BTW, that offer is open to anyone.

Thank you exmos! As of today, we are at over $2600, easily besting our goal and providing us with funds to keep operating for another year. We now have "sufficient for our needs", in contrast to a certain corporation with a twelve figure investment portfolio.
