At what point during the alleged first vision did either of the beings that Joseph smith Jr. claimed to have see and talked to announce that he was God?

Well, in one of the accounts, Joe said that he saw two “personages.” One of the personages introduced the other as “my beloved son.”

I suppose some names would have been helpful. If one of the dudes had said “‘sup, I’m Carl, and this is my boy Chuckie. You really should listen to him,” maybe Joe wouldn’t have started a church.

I believe mormons put some stock into the notion that this either the only time, or just the second time, that Elohim's voice was heard.

Jehova/Christ mostly did all his own talking...

I suspect that when this tale was created, a few years after the church was founded, JoJu decided to throw in this appearance by the Big Guy.

Did JoJu just not give a crap about what people like me would think?

The Big E: Hey, aren't you supposed to be meeting with JoJu right about now?

J: Uh, yeah... Listen, dad, about that... What if he doesn't believe me when I tell him I'm his ghawd?

E: Not believe you're ghawd? What are you talking about?!

J: Well, yeah... What if when I say, 'Hi, I'm Jesus...', he says, 'yeah right, sure', and then proceeds to ignore me!

E: Has that ever happened before?

J: No, but these are modern times. These aren't just a bunch of sheepherders...

E: So what do you want to do?

J: Could you go down with me, you know, to vouch for me...?

E: Holy catfish! Wow, times sure have changed since I was a redeemer...

I'm hreatly surprised that ChurchCo still refers to that experience as a Vision...

The beings were Non-Existent and Fairly-Absent (neither had last names): NEFA
