I meet interesting people in doing so.

I sit on a neighbors cement lawn edge (she has given me permission to do so, and I often have left her fruit from my fruit trees).

One lady I met was homeless, and appeared to have everything she owned in her satchel, and told me she was looking for a place to live. Even so, she offered me half of her only banana...now THAT is generosity! (I didn't take it home).

Not very often, I notice things worth bringing home in the alley next to where I sit, such as a nice chair, and even a hula hoop, both of which were left in the alley to where I sit.

One a year, beginning this year, our family has a 'white-elephant' party--now held in a church backyard (easier to avoid getting the c. virus, and this was my contribution).

Here in North Disneyland, everyone out walking is wearing a mask.

So smiling at people goes unrewarded.

If you start coughing at just the right time, you can see the eyebrows go up and panic in the eyes and they turn and start jogging...

Picking up cans to turn in for the deposits.

Canpicking is probably the only thing my city doesn't require a license, permit, or fee for. I see people of all types digging for bits of treasure, some very sophisticated, using long-reach tongs and grippers to extract cans and bottles. One family was very organized, with a young man consolidating collections in a beat-up van as others filled their Hefty bags.

My student neighborhood yields a rich crop of nickel.

Years ago, I noticed a regular "donor" put out a huge amount of tall Bud cans on a regular basis. I happened to meet her, and encouraged her to look into recovery.

I thought you were the one who was in recovery: recovering [other's] cans/ lost money.

Thanks for cleaning up, having fun, earning extra loot, being a good neighbor, and making a difference.

I imagine she's quit by now, and I suspect you have as well. Okay I'll quit now. That's my nickle's worth of thoughts- which, of course, includes my two scents, worth more, and worthless (never worthless).

Cute play on words!

I only spoke to her twice, so I did what I could. I myself have 4 adult children who have never seen my drunk.

Again, nice word play. Speaking of "scents," do you have any idea what a trashbag of beer containers used as ashtrays smells like? I hope not!

In recent news, Hallie Biden, Hunter's sister-in-law/girlfriend, was afraid he'd kill himself with a recently purchased revolver. She wrapped the firearm in a shopping bag and dropped it in a public waste bin. When she went to recover it, it was gone--bringing in the Secret Service, ATF&E, Delaware State and local police.

The gun was produced a little while later--by a canpicker!

Canpicking: truly a noble enterplrise!

Smells like?

Utterly disgusting

Certainly a noble profession

What, the partial, peeled banana, or the hula hoop, or the nice chair, or did I miss something? Maybe the wonderful, fresh fruit? Ahh-

Sounds like fun...

I like early-in-the-day walks, or anytime someone real walks by, or I walk by them...

I like People who Are People (like in the song)...
