Apologies as this is not an original question and has almost certainly been answered before on this illustrious website: Does SLC share all online tithing information back to the ward? What do the bishops and the rest actually know?

It appears to me that your ward clerk will know. And certainly, the bishop should, even if it's only at tithing settlement. You can lie about donating online, but he can check.

Here is a the church's output to the membership:

https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/help/support/finance/online-donations?lang=eng

It's not a long read and there's nothing that ought to startle any of us.

This is my favorite entry:

I would like to have my donation refunded. How do I do that?

Donations are a free-will offering and cannot be refunded.

Peter to Ananias: What did you not understand about “Sudden Death”?

This is why I never cheat ghawd without having two fingers crossed.

"Crossed", get it? Then ghawd can't strike you down for cheating him.

Regarding tithing being a free-for-all... I mean free-will offering, how "free-will is it when your 19-year-old daughter is getting married in the temple and expects both parents to be there with her?

my relatives who aren't wealthy pay through Edward Jones directly to Salt Lake. The ward doesn't know the amount, the hierarchy like to conceal the amounts of wealthy contributors from the less wealthy, so they keep these amounts private. There are secrets everywhere within that church.

I'd heard that the church had provided a way for tithing to be paid and the local leaders would never know the amounts.

But if you read the church literature I linked to, it seems to say that the ward clerk and the bishop can check the amounts being paid.

But I would tend to side with your relatives' belief that no one in the ward knows what they pay.

Ghawd's house is not really a house of order.

Agreed. I think the bishop and the ward clerk can monitor the tithing amounts involved but am unable to confirm this one way or the other. I cannot believe that there is no flow of information between SLC and the wards given that tithing is the ultimate control mechanism. Anonymized tithing would be the right way to proceed for the Church which is exactly why they would never permit it.

I know it used to be that if you sent your money directly to SLC, the local ward and stake knew nothing about the amount that you sent (I think just that you sent it.) I'm not sure if that's the case any more.

Nothing is shared
It is always taken
(Never given)

Members give
'Church' takes

The warts support tscc
Not the other way around

Now, how about that advice...
