There is a very bad variant of the covid-19 virus spreading in Brazil like wildfire plus a shortage of the vaccine. So, why in h*ll did my extended family member just arrive there to finish out his mission after spending the first half of it in the states because of the covid restrictions? He's been there just a few weeks now. My TBM family seems to be silent on this from what I have been able to find out. I don't want to stir the pot but this is absurd!

That makes zero sense to put him at risk like that.

My family does not know if he has been vaccinated. shocking to hear the unconcern about this.

Not a smart move by the church.

It sounds as if he is replacing missionaries who became sick and the mission is in need of replacements.

"But, Sarge, these green replacements are just being fed to the slaughter! They haven't got a chance!!"

Leave it to TMC (The "Mormon" 'Church') to take missingaries out of harm's way and (really) put them in harm's way.

Actually until just a couple months ago, being in the US was about as dangerous as you could find. Now Brazil and India are vying for first place. The upper Midwest is still trying to run Brazil competition, but it feels like a rearguard action.

But yeah, this seems like a particularly absurd time to be sending anyone to Brazil for any reason.

I bet Canada has completely locked down the LDS missionary program in their country.
