https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2021/03/12/976172586/little-difference-in-vaccine-hesitancy-among-white-and-black-americans-poll-find

% of those who said they will not get vaccinated

49% of Republican Men
47% of Trump voters
40% of White Men
38% of Evangelical Christians

30% of all adults

In order to get to Herd Immunity we need to get 70%-95% of the population to get Vaccinated.
https://www.goodrx.com/blog/covid-19-herd-immunity/

This is in line with white people's refusal to wear masks.

% who wear masks

46 percent of whites
67 percent of Black people
63 percent of Latinos and
65 percent of people from other races.

https://www.yahoo.com/now/white-people-least-likely-to-wear-masks-consistently-study-finds-231848231.html

One of the most recent analyses of male behaviour was carried out by Valerio Capraro, a senior lecturer in Economics at Middlesex University, and Canadian mathematician Hélène Barcelo, from the Mathematical Science Research Institute, Berkeley.

The academics surveyed nearly 2,500 people in the US and found that men were not only less inclined to wear face masks than women. They also considered that donning a mask was "shameful, not cool and a sign of weakness".

"This happened particularly in counties where face covering is not mandatory," Dr Capraro explains.

Women were almost twice as likely as men to say they intended "to wear a mask outside their home".

"Men are less inclined to wear a face covering, and one of the main reasons is that they are more likely to believe that they will be relatively unaffected by the disease compared to women," adds the scientist.

"This is particularly ironic because official statistics show that actually coronavirus impacts men more seriously than women."

Other studies have consistently shown that men are also less compliant towards hand-washing, one of the basic hygiene measures to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 - with one recent poll finding that 65% of women but only 52% of men say they are washing their hands regularly.

Oh man, will you quit it with these political posts? This stuff is solely designed to whip up hate not provide solutions. Your mask percentages even contradict the racist argument you are trying to make.

People are the result of their choices not just members of group! It is not toxic to be white or male, those are just how people are born. I expect this kind of talk from the far right.

You realise some people can't wear masks for other reasons? Stop judging.

'Tis true. Not one to be deterred by facts, though, our S-cat.

Indeed.

Actually the mask percentage was percentage of those who wear masks, not refuse to wear masks.
I fixed it.
Thanks for pointing out the error.
Wearing masks and taking vaccine shouldn’t be political.
But it is literally toxic when white men refuse to do their part to achieve herd immunity because they just lack empathy.
I’m a white man, but I got vaccinated as soon as I could and I’ve got no problem wearing a mask to protect others.

I got mine because my testosterone level has probably dropped a bit over the years and I'm just not as macho as I used to be.

How often do you think you'll need boosters?

Probably until only a high chair will do.

No need. A former AP has the priesthood authority to raise anything from the dead.

A geezer friend of mine tried to molest one of the neighborhood college girls. He was charged with Assault With a Dead Weapon.

Same! I couldn't care less about politics and:

1.) I enjoy continuing to live. A number of people I knew circa early 2020 are now, well, dead because of this thing. Two others didn't die but came pretty close and were in the hospital/recovery for weeks after their infection.
2.) Having read the available scientific literature, I had no real concerns as to safety or efficacy.
3.) It was quick, easy, and free.
4.) I'm not an anti-vaxxer, which is a nice way of describing someone who is mentally challenged, science-denying, emotionally unstable, and woo-believing.

:D

Perfect example of toxic masculinity.

Without reading your article, just from the headline alone, it seems to be plain wrong:

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33655271/

“Conclusions: COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy was greater among racial and ethnic minorities, and Black participants living in the U.S. were less likely to receive a vaccine than White participants. Lower uptake among Black participants in the U.S. during the initial vaccine rollout is attributable to both hesitancy and disparities in access.”

That’s from Feb, so maybe things have changed. But the narrative of ethnic hesitancy in the US was well documented.

(Forgive me, no time to read the linked article)

At a Feb 17 town hall, he said,

“Not everybody in the community–in the Hispanic and the African American community, particularly in rural areas that are distant and/or inner-city districts–know how to use–know how to get online to determine how to get in line for that COVID vaccination at the Walgreens or at the particular store.”

Right.

OP needs to whittle it down to a smaller part of White Men. Then he’s spot on.

Basically, they're afraid of appearing afraid.
