Former reality TV star Josh Duggar faces charges of downloading and possessing child pornography under a federal indictment unsealed Friday.

Federal prosecutors announced the indictment a day after Duggar was arrested by U.S. Marshals in northwest Arkansas. Prosecutors said Duggar possessed the material, some of which depicts the sexual abuse of children under the age of 12, in May 2019.

Duggar, 33, pleaded not guilty at a hearing Friday. His attorneys said they planned to defend his case “aggressively and thoroughly.”

“In this country, no one can stop prosecutors from charging a crime,” the attorneys said in a statement. “But when you’re accused, you can fight back in the courtroom — and that is exactly what Josh intends to do.”

Fight, Josh, Fight!!

Prosecutor: We found child porn on your computer, Josh.

Josh: Nuh-uh!

P: Yes! There was C.P. on your computer!

J: Nuh-uh!

P: May it please the court: This is the computer we took from Josh's house and C.P. was loaded into the hard drive on March 2nd of this year. Here is a sample screenshot of the C.P. Two minutes before the C.P. was downloaded, Josh's email was logged onto, and Josh's Costco credit card was sent a payment. Five minutes after the C.P. was downloaded, someone using Josh's credentials logged onto Twitter and then three minutes later, his Facebook account was logged into. Surveillance video shows that at that time, Josh was in his residence and was the only one there at the time.

J: Nuh-uh!

His Honor: Josh, the evidence really allows for no other interpretation! There was no one else at home and accounts only you are likely to have access to were visited, just before and just after the C.P. was downloaded.

J: Well, it wasn't me!

I have a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that his wife married him knowing that (as a young teen,) he had molested four of his minor sisters along with the family's minor baby sitter. Now she has six (soon to be seven) children with him, with no likely means of support once he is incarcerated. Seems like poor decision-making all around.

I have a hard time with it, too. But I didn't grow up in a cult.

Anna's father was a prison minister and believed that everyone could be redeemed. I think that's a very Christlike attitude, even if it's not always realistic.

I think about how Michelle Duggar advised her own daughter, Jill, to always be "joyfully available" to her husband, no matter what. I'm sure Anna was taught similarly by her mother, as well as by Michelle. I wouldn't be surprised if Anna was blamed for Josh's issues, because she simply wasn't "available enough". If she had been, he wouldn't have needed to seek gratification elsewhere... And, of course, it's up to Josh to decide when he's had enough, according to their beliefs.

I remember reading a statement from Danica Dillon (stage name), the woman who gave $600 worth of lap dances to Josh at a strip club and later met with him privately. She said he was "rough" with her, and sex with him was like a rape. Naturally, when she sued, Josh's lawyers impugned her character by basically calling her a whore and implying that meant her word wasn't trustworthy.

It would not surprise me if Josh was rough with Anna... and the idea of leaving Duggarland, with a rich and powerful man like Jim Boob in control, is too overwhelming to contemplate.

I hesitate to be too hard on Anna. I just hope she finds a way out of that mess and protects her children, who deserve the most sympathy and empathy than anyone else.

Your take is likely accurate. The trouble with the money is that there are simply too many (family) hands out, wanting or needing it. It will be split too many ways. I think that Josh doesn't have very much money of his own. IMO Anna will be in a really tight spot.

Yes. Jim Boob has always kept his family under tight control. He gets the money from the TLC show(s) and doles it out to his family. He provides everything to those that allow it and then they are beholden to him. Actually, thinking about it now, it kind of makes me think of the old Soviet system, which is funny, since we know the Duggars are conservatives and against communism. But if you think about it, he provides everything to his adult children and their spouses. In return, they work for him and allow him to dictate how they live their lives.

The ones who have managed to break free can wind up suffering consequences. Look at Jill. When she was growing up, she was supposedly Boob's favorite. She seemed to be the biggest Kool-Aid drinker of the whole group. But then she got married and her husband decided not to be on the show anymore, mainly because Boob wasn't paying them. Then she started wearing pants, getting piercings, drinking pina coladas, sent her kids to public school and she started going to therapy. Now, if she wants to visit the big house, she has to ask permission and Boob has to be there. He doesn't want her influencing the others to rebel. Fortunately, Derick just finished law school, so hopefully, they'll be alright.

A few of the other kids are probably also going to be okay and independent. I think Joy Anna and her husband, Austin, are mostly self-sufficient. I think Jeremy and Jinger are, too. I have also read that Justin, who just a couple of months ago, has moved to Texas. And John David doesn't seem to take a lot of crap from his dad, either. The rest of them, though, are living by his rules.

Anna will probably end up helping to raise the rest of the Duggar kids. Maybe Jana will finally get married and move out of the room she shares with her little sisters.

Yes, even if Anna is provided for, she's put herself into a terrible position.

Good for Jill and Derick, and any other children who are breaking free.

sure jumped out at me. I, of all people, didn't even think of that. So she has almost 7 under how old? I can't remember what the article said and I don't want to read it again. One is 1 year old. And how many have been molested by their father? Or filmed?

I was told it was my fault my husband cheated as I obviously wasn't giving him enough sex. The person didn't ask how much sex we had, just that if he needed to seek sex elsewhere, it was my fault. They had told me that I needed to keep him fulfilled sexually before I married him. Many leaders did. The one who told me it was my fault he cheated was a very, very good friend and I've made peace with him after many years of not speaking to him.

But the mormons see me as the problem. My daughter even told my son that some years ago. It wasn't necessarily the sex. It is that I wasn't righteous enough. Hell, my husband even told me I made him more susceptible to temptation if I watched Married with Children, missed a church meeting, went and got a diet coke on Sunday (and you can't believe how many church members were there at the convenience store, too).

All my fault.

That is one that still pisses me off.

BUT all the people around Anna WILL blame her. Josh will blame her. And she has 7 children. I was just thinking I'm so glad I only had 2.

Anna is pregnant with her 7th. Her other children range from 11 years old to 17 months.

I support women having as many children as they like (within reason,) but you have to have a plan to support them if things go south with your marriage, your job, etc.

I agree with you about Anna, it is likely that she will get blamed just as you were. It's the "go to" explanation in the high-control religion playbook.

The quiverful movement is essentially a sex cult that connects sex with children. I know they don't condone having sex with children, but it's not a surprise that some would get their wires crossed and connect the two, forming a perverted sexuality. It's too bad so many lives have been ruined by this.

The church claims that everyone should just forgive. That's the standard position of the church, regardless of what happened. But when betrayal and especially the betrayal of children is involved, I think they got that wrong.

At age sixteen I was assigned to a home teaching companion who was in his fifties at the time. I moved away from the area after my mission. A few years later I was visiting and some close friends told that my former home teaching companion was in prison for a child molestation conviction. His wife babysat several kids in the ward when I knew him.

They told me that he had confessed to the Bishop and repented several years before I home taught with him. But then eventually, that child grew up, told his parents what had happened years ago, and they reported it to the police. So my question is: how does one repent of child molesting without confessing to the family and if appropriate, turning themselves in to the police? It looks like the church just gives some offenders a complete pass on the steps of repentance. But they excommunicate good christian people like John Dehlin for trying to reconsile the church's policies of bigoted discrimination. What a crazy cult.

What a spectacular piece of shit human being. Religiously smug and judgy, but a kiddie sicko in reality. I hope the mental defectives at the Family Research Council are happy with their pick to defend those "family values" of hating others whilst being a hypocritical sack of crap.

They're going to have to keep him in isolation in prison, because even prisoners have standards. They are not going to put up with someone who abuses children.
