Let's consider the first vision narrative.
Joseph Smith Jr. alleges that he prayed. He then saw a bright light descending over him.
Looking at Joe jr.'s so called vision he speaks of a bright light descending.
Based on more modern reports is it possible that what he saw was a U F O?
It would fit in with newer information!
Virtually all reports of "otherworldly" encounters involve a descending brilliant light. so why would this encounter be different?

I'm familiar with several versions of the First Vision.

Yours is the most likely.

The funny thing is that I actually ran across the "E.T." explanation for the First Vision in a book at my high school library many years ago. No giggling, but as a young TBM I thought it was quite refreshing that at least the author wasn't bashing Joseph Smith as insane, a liar or under diabolical influence.

Ancient Aliens on the "history" channel makes this proposal.

It's just that they apparently forgot to do that "grammar checker thingy" when they finished. Ooops!

First Vision? Was it 1820 or 1824? Was it one personage or one personage with angels? Was it two personages or two personages with angels? Was it just angels?

Most likely Joe made the whole thing up years later because apparently all UFO's were busy elsewhere that day.
